It's been awhile since it's been this nasty, we had maybe a few half a foot snowfalls last year if that, but I am getting pizzowned by the snow here in Nebraska. It's been snowing since last night, and it's not supposed to let up anytime soon. It's at a crazy pace, and I have a feeling I'll be under at least a foot of snow tomorrow, and so does the weatherman. Then there's 10 degrees below zero windchills tomorrow at 30 MPH. Snow drifts of death will be there to stop any man or vehicle in its tracks. Looking forward to having my classes canceled tomorrow. They're already closed all schools/colleges and a lot of businesses. Booyah. Anyone else have any interesting tales involving the weather? |

I was driving with my fiancee back to campus from my town about 170 miles up North. The area we live around is prone to flash floods and the weather that day didn't look particularly good. The skys were downcast and we could hear thunder from my grandparent's place. We packed our stuff and in spite of the fact it was raining we left a little later then expected. We hit the road back to Yuma and we stopped about midway to Quartzsite near about 10 parked cars off of the roadside. We got out to see that ADOT had secured the area, and when we got to the road block we could see that the rain water had caused a flash flood and it was moving at pretty fast speed. Needless to say we were held up at the side of the road for about 3 hours, and when we had to cross the washes we were almost swept away. |

Last summer we had a regionwide blackout due to wind knocking mass amounts of trees over. We're supposed to have 50 mph winds today. Should be interesting. |

Omaha is a grim place to be right now. I blame Abbath. Blizzards, cold, and lots of snow and ice. We will be staying home for Christmas. |

Funny how every climate paranoiac in Belgium is in Kopenhagen just when we witness the greatest snowfall of the last two decades here in Flandern. |

Lots of snow here, more than we've had in years. Currently about -10 C. In the last month we've had some serious snowstorms .. driving home (i.e. downtown to suburb) took over 4 hours for most people. Some guy at work said it took him 7 hours to get home on a bus from the airport (normally takes about 45 minutes). Said he was glad he didn't have to piss. |

Increased precipitation can easily be attributed to the melting of large ice deposits. Just because the temperature is increasing doesn't mean that it can't still go below the freezing point during winter.
