On my recent european trip I decided to order some Grog, having heard it referenced many times in fantasy literature and games. I really had no idea what it was ..
So now I'm back and making my own, and it's surprisingly good! I use hot water, rum, cinnamon and freshly squeezed lime, just like the old British navy recipe with the exception of lime juice (I tried some lemon juice from concentrate, but it wasn't very good).
