Post subject:  Worst experiences with bands

What are some adverse experiences you had with bands at shows or meeting a member somewhere? Do you think its a reflection of the bands status, or just the persons nature?

I remember after Suffocation's live set after I bought my Decrepit Birth shirt Terrence Hobbs with a roadie on his arm walked right past me after I told him simply they stole the show with some to the bar and he put his hand on her ass.

I was also sitting outside of the clubhouse for Blackened fest when I saw Mayhem come out from their tourbus to warmup they all just walked right past their fans without staring at them and then the last one Necrobutcher the ugly bastard comes right out and gives me the worst look I've ever seen.

What are some of yours?

That doesn't make Terrence Hobbs or Mayhem bad people. I'm sure if I was in a band I wouldn't necessarily stop and chat with every braindead fan who wanted to go HEY MAN YOU RULE! at me.

Atilla is the only polite member of Mayhem.. The other one's are douchebags. High and mighty cunts. The same goes for Shargath of Dimmu. Good lord.

I once got tackled by the singer of dodgy Valleys-metal lot Shaped By Fate, after he'd spent their entire between-song chat berating me and my friends for no apparent reason.

Dimmu came out here years ago right after PEM was released, and maybe played for a grand total of 80 people, if that. They were extremely personable, and I even was able to chat it up with Shagrath.

Maybe their heads popped since that point, but I was VERY surprised they bothered to talk to anyone considering the awful turnout.

I'd say the worst experience I've had is with Nevermore, which I've talked about on here before, or The Locust and the bands that opened for them somehow managed to be even SHITTIER than The Locust. I was shocked.

I've never really interacted with a band besides talking to Cattle Decap's bassist who was pretty cool for the two minutes we chatted.

As for sucky performances, Dimmu blew pretty hard last summer and Ozzy was nothing to write home about two summers ago.

New thrash band Mantic Ritual, saw them open for Destruction. The bass player was taking a piss the same time I was. I walk over to wash my hands, as any level headed person would. He just looks at me and walks out without even touching the water. The bathroom itself was disgusting, we both should of been bleached just for going in there. But to go in there, piss, and not wash your hands?

frggin gross

plus his hair was real greasy

That's new Thrash for you man. Voivod or Sabbat would have known to wash their goddamn hands.

At least they put on a good show. Funny though cause I was right at the stage all night and the bass player avoided that section as soon as he saw me.

Obviously he was too metal for personal hygiene.

I never really had any bad experiences with people from bands. Most of them have been really cool.

Dan Lilker got kicked out of Anthrax in 1984 because lack of personal hygiene.

Must be a bass player thing.

Tony Kakko. Behind stage, I said good show to Tony and he looked directly at me and didn't say a word, but Jani Liimatainen was right behind him and said "Thanks man" and actually showed appreciation. It's a shame Jani is no longer in the band, he was the best thing about Sonata IMO.

I did however meet DEVIN TOWNSEND before a show with The Devin Townsend band. He was awesome! He shook my hand and commented on the venue... he was stoned out of his mind though. After the show him and the rest of the band went bowling (ranch bowl), and my brother and a friend sat there and chatted with him for a while. Doesn't get much cooler than that.

Meh, Vader's vocalist, what's his name again, turned right around when I wanted to take a picture of the two of us... back when Vader was my favourite band. Asshole. The guys from Keep of Kalessin are 'tards as well. As are the guys from Down, they closed down the whole backstage area of Metalcamp just to have some room for their massively inflated egos. Oh yes, and those idiots from Alestorm... avoid at all costs.

Are you fucking kidding me? Do you really need a microscope to tell you that you're better off NOT washing your hands in a place like that? Seriously. If you took a shower in the morning, and you have enough co-ordination not to piss on your hands....you're MUCH better off not washing them.

I shudder just thinking about what kind of germs gestate on the taps and hand dryers in a bathroom like that.

Soap is cleaner than touching the flusher on the urinal. Plus, I used paper towl to turn on and off the water. The door to the bathroom stayed open the whole time. So he had no excuse.

edit - he did not shower in the morning either, as I said his hair was really greasy.

I'm big on washing my hands every time I go to the bathroom, but even I will NOT wash my hands at our local venues. Touching the faucet itself will give you AIDS.

Really!? Hellhammer was very cool the times I met him. (Canopy@Mølla 2006 w/Arcuturs, and 2007 when Mayhem played)

The rest of Mayhem was too busy snorting coke. (Not Atilla though, he mostly kept to himself)

.:crast:.

Didn't have bad experiences. The Napalm Death guys must be the coolest ones around though, especially Barney.
