It's happened to us all. You're happily taking a huge bite out of an enormous sandwich when - whoops! - a chunk of, say, cheese tumbles out and lands on the floor. What do you do? Do you pick it up, blow it off, and send it on its merry way down your throat, or do you simply refuse to eat off the floor?

Well.... It depends on where I'm at pf course, yet I have to admit that if it happened at home, on my clean bedroom floor, i would easily have ate it.. However, on the streets at work or anywhere else, I woud've refused.. The brutal truth y'all. Now bash me.

Eat it anywhere, except a pile of shit. We consume so much dirt anyway, and our immune system needs the practice.

It depends on the extent obviously, but eat it, within reason.

An ex-housemate of mine once ate a whole pizza that had been left out on a park bench. We walked past it on the way out and he was tempted but said "I'm not drunk enough"... on the way back he was.

Haha, that sounds like something I would've done while drunk..

I once found a bag of candy outsite which I took home and enjoyed.

Ew. All the food I see in the streets round here looks like it's already been through someone's stomach already. You guys are crazy. Well, Thomas and rio's mate, at least.

I'd eat off a relatively clean floor, but not if it had hairs or whatever on it.

Pretty much... I'm certainly not condoning his behaviour.

The pizza was completely unchewed and no visible dirt, though. Just cold.

Yeah, but... someone could have spat on it or something. At the very least, a tramp probably starved to death because your selfish drunk friend ate the pizza that would have saved his life.

What was/were the topping/s?

Hehe, yes, the whole episode reveals a host of unanswered questions. Why would anyone abandon a pizza completely untouched anyway?

I can't remember the toppings... I think it was just Margherita.

It largely depends on the kind of food that falls on the floor. If it's something dry, like a cracker, I'll go ahead and eat it. If, on the other hand, it's a piece of salami or something, I'll let it go. It also depends on the floor that it happens to fall on. If it's some dusty, moldy corner with hair and dead bugs, I'll let that bit go, and probably never look back.

It should be said that I was considerably younger back then though. Won't promise that I wouldn't have done it today

It all depends of the type of food & the floor's clean status.

eat it. unless my dogs are around and they didn't try to go for it, then i might give it to them as a reward.

+1. Five second rule!

It depends more on how much I want the food in question/if I put effort into making it/if more can be easily attained than how sanitary I can convince myself that the floor is.

I voted "yes," by the way.

Dudes, we're metal! We can't afford sport cars or fancy wives so we can't just simply let anything go to waste. Pick it, brush it, eat it. Unless if it's dropped onto something filthy, don't bother, just wait for the next meal.

Anyway there was a research done according to my brother, who's a biochemistry graduate. Food, if dropped, can still be safely consumed if it's within 5 seconds, cos that's the time bacterias take to infect and affect something.

Mythbusters proved that rule wrong. Not sure if they are completely legit or anything though.

As for me, I leave it. It's on the ground, it's gone. My cat has long fur, and leaves some wherever she goes, so there's 95% chance if i pick it up it'll be covered in cat fur.

God I love that show! Too bad I haven't watched any of the recent episodes thanks to work.

Well it depends on where the food drops on. If it's on the floor of your home, which is most likely cleaner than any stall or restaurant, it's fine I guess. If I dropped my food when I eat out, it's a definite NO for me. But if it's at my mom's, it's fine. If it's at mine, umm I won't. I'm a lazy bastard :P

Yeah, don't waste food. If you drop something on the floor and don't want to eat it, put it in a bag and mail it to me.

Depends on the place and what type of food. But that puts me in the bracket of people who do pick it up from the ground and eat. So, yeah I would, though occassionally.
