But before that, my band had our first gig 2 weeks ago. We were playing with some big guys in our local scene and it was a nervous moment for all of us. We bought cheap moonshine whiskey and gulped down the lot just before we went up on stage. And we blew everyone away!! I'm glad we were received well by the crowd and also played well. Everyone including us were surprised that it turned out well since it was our first ever gig. Even some of the Brits who turned up congratulated us and we were fuckin proud of ourselves. Simple songs, but being first timers, we nailed them!!
We played
1. Fuel for Hatred (Satyricon)
2. Seven (own composition, demo)
3. Pursuit of Vikings (Amon Amarth)
4. Metal Machas from Hell (Original composition, demo)
Our own songs weren't even complete and we only wrote them within half an hour during one of our jam sessions before the gig. So, thus, the simplicity of the songs.

So then....now....I've been asked to session live for my friend's band in May. They're playin in Bangkok and I've been asked to stand in for bass since the original bassist will be busy with work (he's a software engineer). We'll be leavin on the 2nd of May and returning on the 6th. The gig's on the 4th. I have to take 3 days off from my job to do so. I'm quite worried cos I just started the job, but May is a good 1 month away and I hope I'm able to get leave. Besides, playing for the band abroad would be good exposure for me. Thailand has one of the most brutal crowd in SE Asia with crazy pits and a record of many people getting badly injured (broken ribs, limbs, jaw, and suprisingly there were a few people who had their faces crushed but survived). The crowd over there is pretty violent and it's always bloody. Should be good.
This is the myspace for the band I'm standing in for. Our Malaysian Pantera boys

So, it's my first time going to Bangkok, and Thailand for that matter. Have any of you been there? We have 2 days to chill so I thought it should be good for some sightseeing. And I'd rather ask someone who's been there than to go through some tourist brochures/sites.
