Serious problem

Yes, the internet wars have reached my doorstep!

I've got a hysterical girlfriend, who got an email from donotkillthemessenger@gmail.com, in which said i cheat on her, make fun of her behind her back, etc. And it gets more disturbing, there were also some photo-attachments that were ONLY on my computer and which were deleted a few weeks ago by myself. I have a good reason to assume my ex, who is also one of her friends, and they had a BIG(even for girl standards) fight last week. i googled donotkillthemessenger and i got a website, where it said that they previded services like such emails. But the website is still 'under construction. Now, my question is, is there someone on this board with enough 'internet-wizardry-skills' to help me at least find out who did this absolute shit?

I could have a crack at it if you wanted me to. It might take a while though as I've got loads of university work at the moment. It would be good experience for the computer forensics/information security/computer security stuff that I am doing.

So you're saying someone took pictures from your PC and then sent them to your girlfriend a few weeks after you deleted them?

How about these questions:

1. Are the accusations true? Do you cheat on her and talk shit behind her back?

2. Were the deleted pictures incriminating in some way?

3. Has your girlfriend had access to your PC?

Don't be so quick to blame your ex-girlfriend when the culprit may very well be your girlfriend. It's much easier for someone to act innocent in a situation like this and say they got an "anonymous tip" rather than simply admit to also sort of betraying trust by going through your private, personal shit.

I'd look closer to home.

I agree with Ken, it sounds as if someone's been going through your computer. Set a password, and deny everything to your girlfriend, tell her it was one of your friends playing a joke or something. Of course, if relations with the ex aren't good, just blame her!
