Whoa, Obama's banned torture?! That'll be embarassing for him when it comes out that they carry on doing it anyways.

Just got a text message about the SWP doing an occupation at my uni, today.... don't know which room they are going to occupy. I think they are just meeting and looking round til they find an empty one then locking themselves in it. Not going with them as have too much work to do and don't see what it would accomplish.

As much as I respect the fundamental tenets of socialism, I think those silly commies do take it over the top a little. What are they protesting?

No more arms to Israel, end the blockade of Gaza, and something else related... I forget what...

How'd it go?

Obama is making a very good start... this won't have got a great deal of press, but it's very important for people in foreign, poor countries.

Don't think it made much of a splash at leeds uni. There's one going on at Leeds Met at the mo I think.

There was one that finished at London School of Economics, which apparently got its demands, inc. scholarships for Gazans and stuff.

Good good. Hope you've complained to the BBC about not showing that advert, too.

Obama's first week seems to be going pretty well. All three things passed are pretty common sense, rational moves which would've never passed the last eight years.

Helping innocent bystanders, caught in the crossfire between a superpower and a terrorist government, is being biased and impartial.

That's what I was referring to above. The BBC have become serious pussys after Sachsgate, afraid of offending anyone in case the Daily Fail will start a campaign. This is the result, hopefully people will still donate plenty.

Yeah, heard the Director General on Radio 4 this morning... I bet he wished he'd just shown the damn thing now.

Just read an artice surrounding the murder of two-year old "Baby Grace",,, Stuff like that makes me sick to my stomach, and if there are any people deserving death-penalties it's those who kill an innocent child.

"Her last words before she was beaten to death were "I Love You, Mom. She was killed because she didn't want to say Please or Yes Sir."

Dude, how fuckin' long ago was that? Children die all the time and the media either cover it up or highlight it depending on their bias. Focusing on one because apparently it supposedly said something cute just negates the ones that didn't, and died anyways.

Happened in 07.. I'm just reacting on the fact that the mother was only 17-18 years old at the time. Killing children should be rewarded with the strictest punishment there is.. It's different.. In my opinion at least.

Strictest punishment there is for someone only 17-18 at the time?

But why is it different? If anything they have no one who depends on them like parents, family or teachers.

I thoguht Norwegians were quite liberal when it came to that sort of thing. Didn't you have a case where some kindergarden children killed a classmate, and then they were reabsorbed back into the class? A similar case in England had calls for public lynchings, and they were sent to a correctional instititution (ie prison for kids, pretty darn miserable places from what I've heard).

In other news:

Quote:
Thank you for your e-mail. We note your disappointment at our decision not to broadcast an appeal by the Disasters Emergency Committee to raise funds for Gaza. We decided not to broadcast the DEC's public appeal because we wished to avoid any risk of compromising public confidence in the BBC's impartiality in the context of covering a continuing news story where issues of responsibility for civilian suffering and distress are intrinsic to the story and remain highly contentious. We also could not be confident that the aid resulting from audience donations could reach those it was intended for at a time of a fragile ceasefire and sporadic border access. We will of course continue to report the humanitarian story in Gaza. The BBC's director-general Mark Thompson has therefore explained the decision in more detail in a number of television and radio broadcasts and online at our Editors' blog. Please follow the link to read his explanation in full: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/theeditors/2 ... ppeal.html

Please be assured that we have registered your comments on our audience log. This is the internal report of audience feedback which we compile daily for all programme makers and commissioning executives within the BBC, and also their senior management. It ensures that your points, and all other comments we receive, are circulated and considered across the BBC. Once again, thank you for taking the time to contact us. Regards BBC Complaints
