Hidetaka Miyazaki (Dark Souls) is considering implementing an "easy mode" to the game. Which made me laugh, because 99% of the game designers usually consider adding a "hard/hardcore/whatever mode", not an "easy/doable" one.

Strange decision. The game isn't really that hard when you understand what you're doing wrong, but there is some trial and error. Nevertheless, I don't feel like an easy mode would be very fun at all.
What is it about the game that makes it so difficult? I have heard that from alot of people, havent played it personally. Just curious.
Well, if you die, you drop all your souls, souls are currency and experience at the same time, so it sucks to lose them. Anyway, they can be picked up again so it's not that big of a deal, but if you die before you pick them up they are lost forever. At the start of the game you die quite often because enemies hit HARD, you die from 2-4 hits usually and if you just spam the attack button you run out of stamina and when you run out of stamina you can't block or attack. This is basically what kills most noobs, you need to have a lot of patience and know when to let your guard down and go for the kill. Enemies also block your attacks, so if you hit them while they have their guard up, you are vulnerable and vice versa.
There are other things that makes the game difficult. For instance, the game world just feels uninviting, there's very little information and no quest logs or anything. There are no towns or safe havens, expect the bonfires which work like check points. Possibly the most frustrating thing about the game is the fact that whenever you use a bonfire to heal, level up, stock up on estus flasks(healing item) every enemy you have killed will respawn. So if you die at a boss, you need to grind all the way back to the boss.
