I may actually go for a stealthy Nord approach, if that will actually work (with the way the leveling system works I don't see why not). At least I would be far from screwed if I blew my cover!

I played as a Dark Elf in Oblviion dunno if I'll do the same for Skyrim. Don't like Argonians or Khajit because they look kind of stupid...

what type of characters do you all play? I was an archery-sword-destruction/conjuration combination. It was sometimes a bitch not really having any specialization with the difficulty, but overall fun to be able to do so much stuff. But, archery was probably my favorite thing to do, so I'm thinking I'm going to be a stealth-magic person in Skyrim. Yeah.

I'm primarily a stealth character (technically a thief) most of the time, proficient in sneak, lockpick, unarmored, unarmed, and archery skills. Wood Elves / Khajiits are awesome at this.

Oh, also, creating a Nord, maxing out his unarmed / unarmored skills, and designing him to look as much like Chuck Norris as you can manage is lots of fun.

Karma: I hope they improved the "speech" system (I'm talking about the wheel with the Coerce, admire, joke and boast options). Because working on your speechcraft skill in Oblivion was err... über-dull.

Afro: it seems stealth works best with an archer in this game. They said distant stealth strikes were beefed up significantly. We'll see.

heatseeker: all of them ! But what I like best is 1) role-playing an assassin : stealth, bow/dagger, as little magic as possible, 2) role-playing a mage : full magic (mastering as many schools as possible).

But for my first game, I'm going to take things easy and play a warrior.

Both in Morrowind and Oblivion I played like an Altmer, because they're the only tall race (I'm 1.90 m myself). I used a custom class, called the Philosopher or sometimes Wanderer, a player with speechcraft, mercantile, blade, light armor, alchemy, destruction, restoration and alteration (flying is so fuckin' awesome :dio: ).

Sometimes I like to play like a thief, and I use and Imperial for that. A pretty son of a bitch that one. He killed everybody in Bravil because he couldn't find skooma...

I've never played like a warrior, I don't visualize myself like that.

Swordsmanship is a must. Alteration or sneak for the locks and shit is also essential. Other than that... Some Destruction maybe. All I need to kill people with is a sword and a dagger, none of this axe or warhammer rubbish.

There's a mod for that Brucie. Look for it in Arwen's site. No more annoying minigames. The lockpicking one is specially good. It was to fuckin' easy to pick locks, even with a skill of -20.

Yeah, but what I meant is I hope the system in Skyrim vanilla will be decent at the very least.

Here's another orc with a silly haircut:

And a female redguard (nice cave) :

Both are one-eyed.

Graphics are fucking nuts. Can't wait.

Never really thought about trying to get good at stuff like Speechcraft and Mercantile, but it might be a fun, different way to play the game, more like a normal person than a storming warrior who goes around and kills everyone.

Also, I don't understand using Security as a main skill just for lockpicking. It's pretty easy to go out and get the Skeleton Key (unbreakable lockpick).

p.s. now I kinda wish I had an awesome computer to play the game on so I could use mods, since undoubtedly some of them improve the already-incredible game a lot...oh well, I'm sticking with Xbox.

In Oblivion, getting good at Speechcraft was near to useless (and painful to accomplish). But as I understand it, in Skyrim the system is close to what we have in the Fallout games (it unlocks options in dialogues). Now the question is, will it be a percentage system a la Fallout 3, or a level check system a la Fallout NV ?

I'm currently doing The Shivering Isles main quest, crazy stuff.

Not to distract anyone from the majesty of Skyrim, but Dark Souls is coming out in less than two months, and those who pre-order get upgraded to the collector's edition for no additional charge:

So, yeah, I've pre-ordered this and Skyrim.

On the contrary, please distract us ! The wait is killing me.
And wow, superb deal. They obviously are fearing competitors. Unfortunately for me, Dark Souls will have to wait...

I love how we turned the "Now gaming" thread in a "Probably will be gaming in a few months" thread.

I'm currently in the middle of Oblivion's Dark Brotherhood quests. I'm going to quit after that. You just can't beat those quests.

I have finally, after such a long time, found Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri on GoodOldGames.com, and I'm having such a massive blast with it - and nostalgia has nothing at all to do with it. Even after twelve years it's still fresh, the graphics are of course dated but who cares?

Good idea, I may have to check that out.

It's just six bucks, quite a steal. I've already put in around ten hours over the weekend.
