It got me .. I incorrectly processed 2(12) before the division applying the bracket precedence due to visual cue even as I multiplied.

48÷2(Beer)

48÷2 Beers

24 Beers

Answer-drink 24 beers and be happy.

48÷2(9+3)

fourty-eight people split off into two groups of twenty-four. One group wants to have lunch and the other group wants to go back the hotel room.

The group that has lunch each decides to spend 9 dollars on lunch and 3 dollars on drinks. How many total dollars does the group spend?

A group of 48 split in half.
24 people
9 each for lunch = 216
3 each for drinks = 72
Total = 216 + 72 = 288
