Watched the entire first season of Penny Dreadful recently. I would definitely recommend it to Zad and ebd. Others as well, but I figured they would enjoy it particularly.

Also went back and watched Lucky Louie, Louis CK's sitcom on HBO prior to the show Louie. It reminded me a lot of Roseanne, but funnier and minus the feelgood John Goodman moments.

Seen Penny Dreadful! Definitely a nice surprise, went in with zero expectations. Eva Green in that seance scene was amazing. There's a second series coming next year, thankfully.

PS welcome back!

Guess nobody is watching The Knick. 2 episodes in and I think it's great. Some corny bits, but still gritty and good. HBO (Cinemax) style.

Would prefer it wasn't a hospital show but turn of the century NYC sounds interesting. Maybe sometime.

Noted on Penny Dreadful.

It's not just a hospital show, it's a medical science show. Just watching how procedures use to be done is worth it. And Clive Owen is boss as the coked up lead doctor.

Ok, Owen is actually playing a coked up guy? Sounding better.

That seance scene was intense. Generally, the possession scenes were out of the park. I just wish the ending to the season wasn't so abrupt.

Any thoughts on Utopia, Mr. Across the Pond? Watched the entire first "series" yesterday lol after friends had been raving over it on Facebook for a while. I thought it was pretty good albeit a little forced at times. I just like the black dude from Misfits a lot.

I might give The Knick a shot. I had no idea what it was when I read your post.

Never watched Utopia - got the vague impression from people it wasn't very good at the time, and I have so many other things to watch...

Same on The Knick, however, have heard very good things...

New series of Doctor Who is off to a shaky start. Disjointed and confusing first episode. The actress who plays Clara has resigned and I give Peter Capaldi is decidely unpopular. Could be a record for shortest tenure as The Doctor. Still Daleks this week and they almost never disappoint.

Watched a single episode of The Knick and couldn't handle the medical imagery. Too graphic, left me queasy.

Started rewatching Ugly Americans, because it is perfect.

Random bit of an Office episode that made me laugh:

It's so much more likeable and funnier than the British version, which I used to prefer. Strange how tastes change with age.

Would recommend the episodes Eye of the Beholder and Invaders from the classic Twilight Zone. I assume y'all have seen To Serve Man before.

Is anybody else watching The Strain? A Guillermo del Toro cable television series is everything I've always wanted apparently.

It is really cool minus the bad British rave hacker chick character. She can die at any time, but the rest of the show is a really awesome del Toro sorta zombie outbreak story.

First episode of the last season of Sons of Anarchy was intense.

New Sons has been slow for it being the final season, but last episode's ending should pick things up.

And just realized that Hell on Wheels has been on for the last two months. Binge watching commenced.
