She's shown me that she's nothing more than a typical lying politician, minus the experience needed to be a VP. She's said some dumb shit and deserves to be ridiculed for it, but why drag a defenseless mentally handicapped infant into it (even tangentially)? I'm sorry, I just don't see how that's funny. I was more doing it for the 'look what these evil librals have thought up now' reverse-mockery angle; I know several people with Down's personally, and they're all great human beings. Considering the treatment I've gotten on this forum in the past for protesting about racist jokes, then I can't see what the problem is here, especially when I didn't do a Wsx26 and go, look, retarded people, hur hur. If you're backing me into a corner, then yes, I found it funny the first time I saw it. A reflection on the moral struggle inherent in laughing at that kind of thing, if I have to justify it. :rolleyes:

No you don't have to justify it, and I'm not trying to back you into a corner. I just don't think that it's funny...at all. Republicans do that shit too. I've seen chain emails about Obama that would make Andrew Dice Clay blush. Telling that joke behind closed doors is one thing, posting it on a public internet forum is another. That's just my opinion though. I really wasn't upset that you posted it, I only got ticked when noodles patronized me for saying I thought it was in poor taste. But I suppose if he wasn't making sarcastic and condescending comments to people, he wouldn't have much else to do.

Indeed. But I'm sure you'll agree that anyone that parades her kids around as much as Palin shouldn't be surprised if people focus on them a little. I certainly would try to keep any of mine (currently non-existant, but still) as far from the centre of attention as possible.
