The downfall of GoT's myriad of storylines is that if I only care about half of them, I only end up enjoying a half of the episode and the other half is simply fact banking so that I know what's going on still. Definitely like an epic novel in that regards.

That's your problem. Read the books to get the full aspect of what is going on. But you won't cause you're too good for that kind of thing.
In a nutshell, you're right. I pondered it over the summer but a lady friend whose opinion I trust insisted how awful they were and so I never attempted. Nor would I have the time now, nor the desire to start up a series that the writer might not finish.
Quote:
At least you an care about characters in GoT, Walking Dead you don't give 2 shits about anybody because nothing ever happens.
I care about Tyrion, Shae and Bronn. And that's about it. And combined I don't care about them as much as I care about Daryl from WD, and in terms of nothing happening, when something does happen it usually involves Daryl's arrows or him throwing a knife into a zombie's eye.

This thread has been awkward the last few days insofar as I'm being overly critical of shows that I rather enjoy.

My advice is, do not read the books. They start out well, but get worse and worse and worse and worse. Feast for Crows and Dance with Dragons or whatever it's called are the nail in the coffin. I used to think the series was brilliant until I realised how gimmicky it is, plus there are so many unecessary storylines while at most 4-5 of them are worth reading. Additionally, I'm skeptical as to whether it really can be that great if so many people enjoy it. With The Wire, a lot of people pretend like they love the show just to appear intellectual, but most people seem to genuinely like Game of Thrones. This is troublesome to me :P

Haven't you claimed to like Star Wars, the Peter Jackson LOTR/Hobbit films, and Tarantino movies on this forum before?

Aren't those 3 things extremely popular? By your logic, shouldn't you now be skeptical if they are that actually great??

I'm gonna stop eating pizza. It can't be that great if everyone likes it.

Started Arrested Development again in preparation of season 4. About 9 episodes in, still funny.

Tried to get girlfriend into that over the weekend, made me want to rewatch it myself. So, so rewatchable.

I'm only half-joking.

Edit: just watched the latest episode of The Walking Dead and the show has become a joke. The last 5 or so episodes have been some of the worst fillers I have ever seen. They should have ended the story arc when Rick and the gang invaded the town, instead they drag it out as if the whole plot with the major was exciting in the first place.

Yeah... Stretching out ten minutes of action into a forty minute episode via weak ass dialogue to reaffirm character development that was already cemented is a fail. BUT Merle was listening to Fast and Loose while drinking whiskey out of a plastic bottle and shooting a bunch of dudes. I want forty minutes of that every week!

Yep. I rewatched the whole thing last month. I think the most laugh out loud moments are in the second half of season 2, but the whole show is still extremely fun on the 3rd or 4th go around.

season 2 had the worst filler, this is fairly tolerable compared to that.

i'd just read the comics and skip this BS, but there are a tonne of them and it's too big an investment.

Thought of buying the first compendium the other day when I was looking for something to plow through: forty bucks for the first half of what has been printed thus far. Probably a deal, but not something I wanted to commit to.

That's a good deal. I bought book 1/8 or whatever for like 300 sek, which according to google is 46 dollars. I got ripped off.

Finished The Wire. I haven't done any work for the last week, but I finished the last three seasons. Ummm five was decent. I like how they wrapped it up, but I didn't like the mess itself. It's believable of the characters, but for being so realistic the first four seasons it seemed like a stretch.

Don't remember if tonight's Justified is the season finale or the penultimate, but I'm getting stoked.

And the TUF semifinals.

TUF last night was good. 2 fights and 2 knockouts, plus Ronda Rousey in yoga pants. Was a good night.

are they good, though? maybe they also suck  although probably not, given it was nice enough to get a TV adaptation.

Yes.

But seriously that Luke/Dylan fight was pretty fun. I want Jones' Muay Thai instructor to train me. Seriously, the dude was doing exactly what he was working on when he was landing those chin shots throughout the fight. Hang in there and wait for the opening and then blast him.

I'm not a lover of the show, far from it now that I've actually talked to a few. Those people are dumb. But that finale of The Walking Dead, besides Andrea being a dumb bitch as always, wrapped up all the issues and did so in a succinct way. Not nearly good, but no complaints.
