So I am in a band playing the exact kind of Mutiilation aping black metal I've frequently complained about. Unfortunately, I'm to blame as it was my idea and I've been assigned total creative control. In my defense, that's about all I can play on guitar.

Is that possible in black metal?

I would actually like to make something of this though, gives me an incentive to become a better guitarist.
