Today I drove around in my piece of shit station wagon looking for scrap metal to sell to the recycling center while chain smoking Marl Reds and blasting a crudely recorded Slayer mixtape out of the tape deck while rich people gave me dirty looks.

yes and tell him he was awesome in Kamelot and that he should get back in the metal game.

spent the weekend in Toulouse, over 2 years after i left. happy to say that everything that made it awesome is still there.

my work visa for Brazil was approved last week, should be heading back to the jungle soon. the past 3 months in Paris have been a blast, but such is life.

Last Tuesday I went to the local church where I am assigned to vote and people treated me like human garbage for wearing my Deicide - Once Upon the Cross shirt.

That is pretty sad, but surely you expected some reactions wearing a t-shirt with three reverse crosses (which is totally not a satanic symbol btw, i guess that most people don't know the history behind it) and pentagrams? Other than that i think the shirt was rather innocuous and non-threatening, i know i would not be offended by it. I went to a christian gathering today at Roy Khan's house and i was wearing my SOA Reaper hoodie with skulls on it and i was also wearing some t-shirt with some skulls on it and nobody commented on it. But then again Europe is pretty liberal when it comes to politics and religion. Right wing christians in Norway would be called liberal in America.

Imagine their reaction had it been Serpents of the Light.

it's a harmless t-shirt but come on, you can't say the imagery wouldn't strike a christian at a church (albeit a church currently serving a secular function, i imagine) would go unnoticed. that said, just how badly did they treat you?

and shame Khan's out of metal. oh well.

The shirt I was wearing has Jesus dissected on the front and said "fuck your god" on the back, though they couldn't see the back since I had on a leather jacket. Several old fat ladies were going on a vehement diatribe against me saying how disrespectful I was, how my generation has no respect, how I am probably a drug addict and a felon (I'm not) and shouldn't be allowed to vote, how I am going to hell, etc. An old man working there was trying to calm down the one old lady who was yelling at me the most. After I was finished I proudly affixed my "I Voted Today!" sticker I was given on to my jacket and walked out.

Well, there is your answer...The one i saw a picture of is quite different to what you described. And just admit it, that was the reaction you wanted right? Nobody wears a t-shirt to church that says fuck your god on it and expect people to be cool with it. It would be like somebody walking in to a black panther meeting with a t-shirt that says "I hate niggers" on it. So mission accomplished man.

But all christians are such inviting and loving people, you'd think they would be happy he was there. No matter what article of clothing he may be wearing.

Should christians tolerate everything thrown in their face? It's one thing to wear such a shirt outdoors were everybody can see it and another to wear it to church for the specific purpose of expressing blasphemy. Like i said it would be tantamount to wearing racist t-shirts to a black panther meeting. But in closing i agree that they should have acted more civilized and not stoop to the offenders level.

I was just practicing my constitutional right to vote in the place to which I was assigned. Maybe next time I should vote absentee.

Oh my god. I'm imagining this and fucking losing it.

You should've gave like a two finger point to the old man and said in a whispered tone, like you were giving the guy advice, "eh-eh-excuse me, sir. These women here are being rude. You should be careful around people like them". And then turn, pop your collar, and saunter off.

Or you could have just looked at the women and gave 'em this haunting stare and pointed at them, "I'll see you ladies outside" and then promptly left.
