Here come the apple haters. Even if you don't post it, you're thinking it.
160 sounds intense. I have 60 with my Zune and the library is rather unwieldy. They have ways of navigating it, like skipping to letters in the alphabet, but I can scroll through the 'S' section for quite a while.

I use to have a 80 GB but it broke. Was pretty close to filling it, and I hear you on the "S" section. So many goddamn bands that start with S and M, hmmm. Kinky.

I'll never fill this new one. But I'll have fun trying!

Good to hear, I liked my old ipod, and would like to get a new one some day when the price is right.

I dunno how you could go less than 160. I only have ripped cds on my 160, and I'm almost out of space. Seeing as you download your music I can only imagine you have way more music than will fit on your player. Which really sounds like it sucks.

I have way more than 60gbs but I feel like I can only properly listen to about 60 gigs worth. I think I'm actually at 47 now. Like sometimes it sucks, a few weeks ago I wanted to listen to Practice What You Preach, but cut Testament from my mp3 player. It wasn't a major loss. The bands that are kinda the aesthetic that I have cultivated for myself take about 40gigs and the other seven to ten gigs is new stuff that I threw on there just to give it some spins.

I have a 120gb iPod and it has about 100gb on it. 2/3rds of the songs haven't been listened to in the last year though.

That shit cray.

I go through phases. So like one month I'll be listening to mostly thrash, the next mostly prog, the next mostly electronica, etc. So most of my music ends up getting listened to relatively regularly. Gotta mix it up, yo.

I think there's just so much music (11,000 songs is a lot) and only so much time I spend listening to music. I go through phases too. The stuff on my "no plays" list surprises me a lot of the time. Stuff I love but haven't gotten around to listening to in a while.

I actually have a really cute filtering system. Nearly 200 gigs on my external hard drive. 85 gigs on my laptop. 50 gigs on my mp3 player. It's a way of severing off what I don't listen to, but sometimes I do dig out the ol' hard drive for something random. Like Biohazard yesterday, but not often. I was bitching earlier this semester about not always listening to what I love and getting swept up into the new for the sake of newness and this past week has really been a chance to listen to classics, albums that I just love, while balancing that decisively with new stuff that I've been reviewing.

Yep, that is what it comes down to for me too. I like silence and enjoy it more than music sometimes. As you guys are saying, I have great albums sitting in my closet that I haven't listened to in over a year, which is silly, really. The good should not be eschewed for the new.

I need music, even if it's just for background noise, really need a much larger iPod, eight gig is nowhere near enough to fit any substantial amount of my collection on, have to be cycling through my stuff once I've listened to it all presently I've got bands from A-K but not everything from that lot even fits so I had to choose only what I most wanted

I found an eight gig Ipod in a parking garage once. Jacket that shit and preceded to fill it up with pop and dance music that could simply be put on shuffle and jammed out to. That might be the only reason to have something that small given most folks' libraries.

it works well as a filter, anything I don't immediately fall in love with doesn't make it on there, should have this problem solved by christmas though

I'm flying to Fiji on business tonight. My flight leaves in about 6 hours, but I'm leaving to head to the airport in about 3 hours.

Im fucking terrified. I have flown overseas on business before, but always with other representatives from my company. This time I am going alone, and I am entirely and solely responsible for the itinerary/schedule of what is to be discussed. Besides that, I'm kinda terrified about representing the company, like I might say something that's not 100% right and then they'll hold the company to it and it'll be my fault.

Oh well, I'm just hoping nothing goes wrong and I suppose at least it will be a learning experience.

Umm it's called the internet, bro. Unless you got that cash to be throwing around.

Most of the music on Youtube and illegal downloading are basically the same thing with respect to copyright. It's almost all there without the band/label's permission.

I had a mostly good day but my gf admitted she read a bit of my journal when we first started going out and used the phrase "before we were even official" in disconcerting ways tonight :-(
