Goat, the taxes in this country are brutal.
I have approaching 35% percent of my paycheck taken by the gov.... and that does not include the assorted fees I have to pay for any number of things (ex: registration fee for my car, annually, toll fees for bridges, parking fees, etc.), the surtax charged on everything I purchase (in california over 8%), etc...
when you are a working man with a family, that is a bite that you can feel.
So those tax prtoesters have a point.

Smart people do stupid things sometimes. It may be part of an attempt by the Dems to take control of the debate, in which case it's quite sneakily clever.

And whilst I can appreciate that taxes are often unfair, come on, those protestors are not working class at all. They're the rich white right-wingers who are completely against the sweat of their workers' brows being used to pay for the less well-off, yet complain when they can't all fit on a government-funded metro and some of them, shock and horror, actually have to go by taxi! Ayn Rand's philosophy would see the creation of some hyperborea exclusively for the rich, a kind of economic ariosophy, and is far from legitimate issues that should be debated re: progressive or regressive taxation. Heck, these people think Obama is a bigger threat than Al-Quaida! If I can't mock people for mispelling America, then what's the world coming to, that's what I say.

What this country needs is a common sense approach... take the good ideas of the right / conservative / Rep. side and discard the bad ones; do likewise with the left / liberal / Dem. side; the truth most often lies somewhere in the middle.
