Just watching a 911 documentary from NATGEO, where an FAA administrator was sharing how his staff grounded all flights nation wide. I remember my uncle was stuck in Phoenix for a few hours on that day.

I'm giving up my iPhone tonight because I can't take anymore of Verizon's data charge shell game. I'm just going back to a simple mobile phone.

French class is hectic and I frankly don't like it one bit. It's mandatory so that leaves me in a very bad position. I know Persian fluently and have been speaking it my entire life. It's really absurd when you know another language fluently but, nonetheless, you must take a language class just because they don't have a system in which I as a student can take a language test in Persian and prove my knowledge. God it's frustrating!

Thank you, I'm finding that 'smart' phones are making everyone wandering idiot non-social zombies. Plus there's always the dangers involved with morons who need to look at the damned things while they're driving.

you're taking it because it's mandatory or because you need french to take exams in other subjects?

i was already bilingual in english and portuguese and i still had to take french, although that was only from 7th to 9th grade. looking back, i wish i had paid more attention. extra languages are always useful, and french is especially so. right now i have the above 2 languages, i'm quite fuent in spanish, have decent french, and basic gujarati. given the time and resources, i'd love to improve on that.

My Koss Porta Pro is dead, so I bought another Koss headset, which turns out to be lame (it was cheap but well rated). It sure is OK for the price (19 euros), but I've been tweaking the equalizer for the last half-hour without managing to have something decent.

I'm going to make a thread so you guys can tell me which headphones / set you're currently using.

Higher-end Sennheisers. Can't go wrong with them. HD 25 are the ones that I have which I use only for home usage because they're so nice.

I hear you, that's how I felt paying for all of Verizon's data charges. All I had left was dust and lint in my wallet.

Speakers and microphones are typically made of transducers, in ohter words, regular speakers and it's my experience and audio folklore that they require hours of burn in to sound the way they will for the duration of their life.

Take the headphones and blast the shit out of them with music for a few days to break in the headphones.

Personally, I like the Sony MDR-7506's. People can keep their bullshit premium "audiophile" brands that do nothing but color the sound in a flattering way that offers no accuracy to the original recording whatsoever. I can use DSPs to do that myself far more effectively. All of Sony's closed back "monitoring" headphones are good and there is little difference in audio quality from the MDR-XD200's pried at about 20 bucks to the MDR's priced at around 100.

I have never used the MDR7509's that are about 200 bucks which extend the treble all the way to 40Khz instead of 20Khz. Technically that is not true because the rated response is just a number that by far most examples exceed easily.

so today i was driving nd had the windows down, listening to Nevermore's "My Acid Words" (awesome riff!). it was rather loud. there is this class full of like 6 year olds, and one of them looks at me and does a really lame air guitar but he really seemed to be into it. i gave him the horns and sped off. i want to believe that i helped turn a child towards the light.

I saw primordial on Tuesday night in Philly. My voice is still gone and my neck should be in a brace but that may have been the best show I've ever been to.

Nah dude. I'm rocking the old iPhone and when it's that dark the pics come out like crap. I do have a couple pics of royal thunder from Saturday. As for primordial all I can say is wow. What a band. I've got everything they have put out and I've been a fan for awhile but after seeing them live.... All I can say is they are amazing live. I was literally 6 inches from Alan Averill the whole show. It was crazy. Best show I've ever been to.
