Quitting smoking is a fucking hassle, alternating between ultra-lights and little cigars that aren't being inhaled seems to be working. It's day three and yesterday I only had 4 ultra-lights, but today I'm going to smoke regularly with the UL's since it will feel like I am smoking heavily. The good news is that the UL will have about a quarter of the nicotine, so with very little effort, 75% of the nicotine simply disappeared from my life.

I finished my third exam today. I only have one on Saturday which is always a strange day to have an exam especially 9 in the morning. I feel okay with all my exams until this point and the exam on Saturday is probably the easiest exam among the three other. I'm glad that I have written three examinations already and they're over with. My least favourite class this term was definitely ethics 351.

I have a paper on Kant due tomorrow and I am so fucked on it. I hadn't picked up the Critique of Pure Reason in probably two months hence completely forgot the lingo which I had never learned all too well in the first place anyways. Basically, what I have so far is five pages of stuff from old papers and a few sentences that I need to turn into paragraphs by expanding on the initial topic sentence, that is, if I ever figure out exactly how to explain what he is saying. Ugh and I have no idea what I'm trying to argue with the paper.

Super talented lady at swing dancing said I've gotten a lot better in the two or three months she's been in Victoria. :-). Especially cool since I haven't been taking lessons or learning new moves and instead just focusing on posture/control/sense of rhythm. I was feeling very into it last night.

Also a guy was describing a Capoeira class where they had to walk across the room in a handstand, do a backflip from a squat, and do a no-handed cartwheel. That is all stuff I'd like to be able to do.

Break has been lazy so far. Need to get out of that. And get out of impulse buying awesome clothes on the internet, which is hard since I'm super happy with the shoes and two sweaters I've bought in the last month. It was so easy to go 6 months without buying anything when I had a couple of disappointments in a row :-(.

One of my classes next semester is going to be a reading of Derek Parfit's On What Matters. Kind of awesome? y/y. Also Epicureans/Stoics/Skeptics sounds super fun. Might be taking four classes after all. There's another class offered by my logic teacher that is a history of "a priori" from Kant to the 60s which sounds super interesting but I think I'll have to miss it.

@trapt, that sounds like my experience trying to write about Kant. Except I didn't have the two month gap. I don't understand how Kant scholars stay sane.

Every time I try that I feel like quitting is too easy so I should just go buy another pack and quit worrying about it. I am not prone to addiction, but the habit of smoking is just not worth it to my voice anymore. I can do whatever I want with it as a smoker which is why I started. It's like learning to fight with extra weights on your arms and legs. Singing is too easy the few times I've stayed away from smoking long enough to find out and it opens up a few more tonal options that I simply sound terrible as a smoker doing.

Good luck to you though. Try the little cigars, you'll notice you clearly aren't getting your regular fix but they satisfy the need to taste the aroma of a cig and they take the raw nerves feeling down drastically. But again, I have a different goal for quitting. I used to be so broke that I would buy a black n mild and inhale those and noticed a huge improvement even with that, so the smoke is just too thick to do the damage regualr smokes do, IMO.

Last night took the lady who blew me off a month ago home. I was too drunk to fuck but I made it happen. I think she got jealous because I was dancing and making out with some girl right in front of her. She blamed it on me having shaved my head. What I like about her is how goofy she is but that results in her being super flaky, like stopping talking to me after she texted me how we need to hang out again.

Christopher Hitchens, a light of intellect in this world, has passed away. I was actually crying when I read some of the tributes.

It does irritate me that his works on religion are what most people focus on, when his body of work is so vast and diverse that it really plays only a small part of it.

Goddammit, the tears keep welling up. He is such an inspiration, he made the world a better place, and now he's just gone, decayed at 62 from a disgusting cancer while smug theocrats grin and laugh about him burning in hell. Watch his video at the Texas Freethought thing, it was just a few days ago, and even though his body is absolutely skeletal his mind is still fantastically sharp. I'm having a hard time dealing with it.

Jesus Christ, dude, I now understand why you don't need religion. You fucking worship actual pricks and not imaginary ones..

Who needs Jesus when you have Christopher Hitchens?
