So far this morning i've listened to a bunch of jazz fusion... and i expect you to recommend me MOAR i will grade how much I like the albums with <3s

Greg Hower/Victor Wooten/Dennis Chambers Extraction = <3 <3 <3
Frank Zappa - Hot Rats - Gumbo Variations and Son of Mr Green Genes = <3 <3 <3 <3, rest = <3 <3 (recommend moar instrumental zappa???)
Mahavishnu Orchestra - Inner Mounting Flame = <3 <3 (I thought most of the enjoyment came from the talent of the musicians rather than energy or musical depth)
Omar Rodriguez Lopez - Omar Rodriguez = <3 <3 <3

I also have Hiromi Uehara - Another Mind and Time Control which I shall listen to shortly and give opinions on

You'll probably also want to listen to some Bitches Brew or In a Silent Way era Miles Davis if you are after the very improvised, freeish hypnotic end of fusion. Also try Herbie Hancock... something like Headhunters will do for more grooveable funky fusion. Joshua Redman's Elastic Band is also highly recommended if you are into the funkier stuff.

Also, you should really seriously investigate some Michael Brecker, technically one of the best saxophonists that have ever lived, and he also died really quite recently.

Yeah I just listened to Hiromi's Another Mind and it's awesome. her piano solo onward in "Double Personality" is O_O

Awesome fusion.

i accidently heard some samples from Soft Machine's Third .. i don't know how to say it, but some ppl would say it's totally crap!!!... CRAP i tell you!!! ... but i liked it

That is a fuckfacingly awesome piano solo, agreed. I played that song for one of my friend's final recitals at music college, except he did it on guitar instead of piano. It never really worked properly because he just couldn't play that opening main piano riff fast enough on guitar.

I uploaded it, but it's in m4a format... If anyone gets it fast forward to about 9:32. It's way too slow and the sound quality is rubbish, but I am quite pleased with my solo on it

I listened to Miles Davis - Bitches Brew. It's pretty good, although John McLaughlin is totally not used enough.

^ this is pretty cool. David Fiuczynski plays on Hiromi's new album and the amazing solo on Double Personality, and Dennis Chambers kicks all kind of ass on a bunch of fusion albums. Jeff Berlin's bass tone is kinda bulky though.

My dad lent me a Jean-Luc Ponty album (Cosmic Messenger), and it's really nice stuff. Jean-Luc played with Zappa.

Lenny White apparently kicks major ass. Or at least his debut does. I shall have to explore further into this other music.

Also I think that Return To Forever - Romantic Warrior is the perfect wanky prog/jazz fusion album... it's far and away the best I've heard in that style

I've always claimed that there was no better axeman in the 70s than John McLaughlin. Why? Cause he was messing with jazz, and it's obvious that jazz guitarists have always been more advanced and had more sophisticated sound than rock ones. ;)

He's scary good, even moreso on the acoustic flamenco stuff he did after Mahavishnu

I've got Mediterranean Concerto. I came across it in the auction mart in Hexham/UK. Just 1.50 pound. Very nice album. Very optimistic. There's a video from this concert on YouTube. I've always had lots of looking at him, while he played totaly effortlessly those really difficult scales, variations and themes. Impressive!
