I kinda dunno why I'm even asking this, but has anyone ever even heard of this movement?

*edit - I didn't have time to make much of a reply the first time, so I'm editing now instead of double posting*

Yes, I have actually. I have one of their compilations, Heat and Birds. I stumbled across it in a very odd fashion, but I literally had no idea at all what I was going to be listening to when I got it. This was several months ago or maybe even a year or so, I'm not really sure now. When I first listened, I kind of liked it and thought it was interesting and looked for a little more information on what it was all about and the artists performing. I found a little information about it at the time, which was really quite interesting, but I pretty much filed this one away and didn't get back to it until recently because of other things going on at the time and other music...

Ironic that you mention them here and now. I would like to get ahold of some more material, but it's not exactly easy I've found one particular distro that looks promising, but I have yet to try it out.

And I bet you weren't expecting anyone to say, "yes", hehe.

So what do you think of it and what all have you heard so far?

Well, I actually thought that if there was anyone going to say yes, it would be you and/or Stefan. The material of this group of artists is very diverse, I found out about The Birdtree a long time ago, but recently I found out their relation to this group. Some great stuff, some less. Original at least.

Hahaha, no. Something like Current 93 but far more obscure.

Frankly, I never thought I'd see anyone post about them, so I was quite surprised to see a topic about it. In retrospect, I probably shouldn't have been. ... I actually found out about the Collective before hearing any one of the artists in it. I agree there's some good, original stuff there and some that's not quite so much. Overall though, I really like the compilation I've got minus just a couple of songs. It doesn't include anything from The Birdtree though, so I will have to look into them. There are several members and so many releases though, and ones that rapidly go out of print, it's a bit overwhelming at first.

Misha, I was listening to The Birdtree the other day. I don't know. for some reason it strikes me as sounding something like "Syd Barrett unplugged" a lot of the time. I have to say I was rather lukewarm to it, though I'm still glad I checked it out. Are there any other JAC groups you especially like?

Most of the ones I know of that I'm interested in checking out further aren't being very easy to track down...

To be honest, I only have some Birdtree and a compilation. Which albums do you have?

Two compilations (Heat and Birds, Windswept Trees and Houses) and some Birdtree. I'm trying to find more by Thuja, Of, Steven Smith, Franciscan Hobbies, and maybe a couple others. Thuja is the only one I see much of though, which isn't surprising I guess.
