Post subject:  New Music Download: Æon Spoke (Cynic Members)

Any fans of this band here? Though Sean Reinert and Paul Masvidal (and one other dude) are in this band, there's not a single thing metal about them. Æon Spoke is more like Dredg and Coldplay and Radiohead than any sort of metal band, especially anything like Reinert and Masvidal's other projects. You'd probably not even recognize them now!

Anyway, Æon Spoke have been around for a good while now. They released their debut, Above The Buried Cry, on a small label a few years back. The album was well-received, and even had a mild hit in the UK and Europe with the song "Emmanuel." Though most people still have no idea who this band is. Since the debut, they've secured a deal with SPV, and just released a new album.

I won't really get into discussing them, because most of you won't like it, or won't even bother listening. They're a great band, though. So, check out some videos and whatnot...

Pretty crazy that the Paul Masvidal singing here is the same that sang with Cynic. Makes you wonder what another Cynic release might sound like, huh?

It took me a little to get over how different it sounded from my idea of what Cynic members playing progressive rock would sound (that's how they were described to me, and I wanted something along the lines of Gordian knot w/ vocals :<) but I probably listen to their debut more than Focus now just because it's great music to relax to before sleeping or whatever, and I don't have very much relax music.

btw is their new album out yet?

Aeon Spoke's...?

And yeah, they definitely don't have any metal at all, I heard of a them a while ago and expected them to be more dramatic or something so it took me a while to realise they didnt do that.
