FrigidSymphony's new favourite band

I always assumed Morello was less of a moron.

RATM are awesome, this is so cool, except for the fact that I don't live in California and I couldn't afford to go even if I did.

I can only hope that when he says this...

"Is it coincidence that in the seven years that RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE has been away that the country has slid into right-wing purgatory? I think not,"

...he is joking. If he is, it's kind of funny. If he isn't then it is also funny. I actually blame America's slide into right wing purgatory on the absence of Steps, who split up around the same time.

Bah. They sold their integrity to make boring Grandpa Rock and get radio play every 5 minutes with Audioslave. Yeah go whine about "The Man" while counting your massive Sony Music and Clear Channel royalties. Maybe throw Like a Stone into the setlist and bore the audience to sleep.

No Rad, I do NOT like RATM. Where were they in 2000??? THAT'S when you needed someone.

Does ANYONE still listen to them unironically? Sure, that "FUCK YOU! FUCK YOU! FUCK YOU!" track on the s/t helped me into metuhl, but I've listened to every other CD in my collection more times than that.

I don't believe that Fridge isn't a fan, and I laughed at Charles' witty STEPS comment.

I listen to them occasionally still.

I still listen to Rage, occasionally. Even their latter, more self-indulgent albums.

I listen to Downset all the time, though.

I'm not a fan, simply cuz I can't stand all the hip hop-ish stuff they put in.

I think they are great and still listen to them.

RATM is one of those cases where I think they're a great band, but just can't really find the time to listen to them very much. I have their s/t debut and think it has a lot of kickass songs (such as Take The Power Back and Killing In The Name Of...), but just never really listen to it for some reason. May be it's just because I'm not really into that rap/hip-hop style? Or may be it's because I don't entirely agree with their politics (being more a republican than a democrat)? I don't know.

That said. I'd love to see the band reunite and release another album sometime. And I don't care what anybody else says. I think Audioslave is a very good band.

I still think their first album is great. Evil Empire is a big bag of shite, though. I never got round to the third album.

+1, Their odd albums are great, even ones are a pile of shite.

I listen to Battle of Los Angeles every now and then.

And most of the first songs I learnt on bass were by them :D

Actually, I think Evil Empire is their best. Possibly because I am mad, but also possibly because it sounds more discordant and angry to my ears, with more hip-hoppy rhythms. Not that I love hip-hop especially, but in the case of RATM it fits them better. Also, the lyrical hook lines are a bit more profound.

Battle of LA and s\t was the awesomes and I do listen to them occasionally. And they're fun to play with the guitar. In my capacity, if you can only play easy shit like RATM you better like it.

Who doesn't like Guerilla Radio? It's insanity!
