and a guy wearing an Agalloch hoodie walked in. I walked by and told him how awesome Agalloch is, and if he needs help finding any books. His girlfriend starts giggling, and he gets completely dumbfounded, then asks me to show him where our horror books are, and as we're in the aisle, he asks "so, you're a fan of Agalloch?" and I of course answer yes. Then he says "well, that's awesome. I'm Don Anderson, the guitarist of Agalloch". He showed me ID and all. Don fucking Anderson of Agalloch was in my store today, and he was awesome. Really nice guy, we had a sweet chat about books and movies. Just really friggin' surprised me to see him in Victoria of all places, let alone my own store, and the one floor I work on. Totally ![]() |

Awesome! I love it when I meet someone from a band I like and they turn out to be good people. I've met a few dickheads in my time, too. Trent Reznor was the worst, a total fucking asshole! I told him I was gonna kick his teeth so far down his throat his asshole would be smiling. ![]() Anyway, that's very cool, indeed. People like Keith Caputo (Life Of Agony, Devin Townsend and Gene Hoglan (SYL), Robb Flynn (Machine Head), Serj Tankian (System Of A Down), Mike Ness (Social Distortion—one of the coolest dudes I've ever met! What he did for a friend of mine is simply immeasurable!), Rich Ward (Stuck Mojo), and bands like Run DMC, 311, No Doubt, John Butler Trio, Zero Hour, Pro-Pain, and even Jared Leto of 30 Seconds To Mars, and tons more, are the reasons why I do what I do for music, the support and promotion and everything. Music has given me so much, when I meet someone from a band, or everyone from a band, and they're totally down-to-earth, respectful, and genuinely interested in me, that means a lot. I can't be a fly-by-night, fairweather music fan as long as people like them and Don Anderson are out there. |

Yeah, after bumping into Don Anderson I was out of a books mood and into a "man I need to get my ass into gear and play my bass every day" mood. It was nice being able to meet someone from an awesome band and have it be like... just mellow. Just sorta have a quiet chat randomly. Lots of awesome people come through this store, though. A local band that opens often for Into Eternity, Golgotha, one of their guitarists was in there and I had a long talk with him as well. Sucks being a minor, though. Cryptopsy, Skinless, Fear Factory, Suffocation, Into Eternity all play in bars here that have no minor stamps and it drives me nuts. |

Holy shit, that's awesome! I would pee myself if that happened. ![]() And I have to ask Ken, how exactly was Reznor such a douchebag?I'm not doubting that he wasn't, but damn, he must've said something. |

I've only really heard bad things about Reznor. Rumor has it he even tried to fuck over the band he started in, Pigface. The part about Anderson that made me laughg, and why I had trouble believing him before he showed me his ID, is because were talking about Ulver's Bertragg and he was saying things like "yeah, Bertragg is great. We basically rip that off every album" and all these other funny little comments. I wish I came to fully believe him earlier, cuz it probably would've been a cooler conversation, but it was still sweet either way. Tbh, though, who wears their own band's merchandise? Aside from the fact it's hard as hell to get Agalloch stuff in my experience. |

The only person from a band I've met is the bassist from Day Without Dawn when I saw them in Seattle. It's funny that he plays in an art rock band and a post-rock band because musically we only talked about death metal lol. I need to go hunt down Don now if he's in this city.... mwahahha. |

A group of friends and I all went down to New York to see Mucky Pup back in the early 90s. Nine Inch Nails had only released Pretty Hate Machine and it was getting some attention, the band becoming more popular. At the time I had no idea who he was, nor had I heard of the band. This was before the internet for me, and industrial has never been a big thing for me. So anyway, we're just walking around before the show and my friend Tara goes, "Oh my god! That's Trent Reznor!" The rest of us were like, "Who?" Haha. She was a weird goth-industrial-loving chick, totally cool. So she shyly walks over to him a little ahead of us. Reznor was with two chicks and some black dude. Tara, though she knew, asks if he was Trent Reznor. He says yeah, and then ignores her. She mentions how much she likes Pretty Hate Machine and he says, "That's nice. You mind?" She didn't know what he meant so she goes, "Mind what?" And he looks at her dumbfounded, just stares at her for like 10 seconds and finally he goes, "Leaving us alone!" She almost cried; so my friend Mike goes to Reznor, "You fucking cunt!" ![]() ![]() |

Like Faffel, what I heard about this guy isn't really too positive. He sounds like an arrogant asshole. |

But he was essentially a nobody at the time, it's not like he was being hounded by a mob of fans, this was one girl about 15 years old; the dude should have been stoked that someone fucking recognized him! |

That's how you'd expect him to act, but maybe he's just really antisocial or doesn't want to go through shallow small talk with someone he'll probably never meet again. well those are sort of the same thing .... |

I still laugh when I think of my friend calling him a "cunt." It was like the first time I'd ever heard someone call a guy a "cunt." ![]() |

So we were there playing pool and the tables were all full so we were waiting for one to open up. These two guys who were playig, saw us waiting and offered to play a game with four with us. So we played and had a good time talking to them and shit. Then one ifthe guys looks at his watch yells o shit and runs off. fifteen minutes latter he apeared on stage. It was then i found out i just hada beer with matti Karki from dismember |

Go see the John Butler Trio. Not only do they kick all kinds of ass, but John Butler is cool as hell—even if he's a stinkin' hippy! |

I dont need to. Theres this local band of teens that play covers of John Butler, but then have their own material.....which sounds exactly like John Butler Trio anyway! Its not bad, just not my cup of tea. http://www.myspace.com/zzenith |
