Dir en Grey might be my favourite of them. Their debut Gauze is pretty normal rock with some weirdness. Then they started to really experiment with their sound. On their latest album I think finally found a sound that fits them well. So Gauze and Withering to Death are certainly my favourites, albums between them somehow lack something, but are still OK.
Their latest songs makes it seem that they continue on the path they found on their latest full-lenght, so I will probably buy their next album too.
I've only heard Withering To Death, so I can't really comment on their back catalogue. I'll check out Gauze, though.
And I have noticed a good bit of experimentation. Shit doesn't get too weird, it's a healthy dosage if anything.
And their new album is supposed to come out next year, right? If it's anything like this, I'll definately get it.
