Excellent show, with Mastodon playing a quality set as well. Surprise of the night was them playing "Swamp Song" with Phil Campbell from Motorhead. Will write a more detailed account soon. |

Nice. I hope the rumours of their spring tour are true and that they come to Vancouver or Seattle since I'd love to see them again... and hope that they'll play Third Eye or 10,000 Days ![]() edit: good interview with maynard. He seems angry http://www.avclub.com/content/node/55757 -Do you ever jump online to read fan's interpretations of your songs? Oh, God, no. -The packaging for 10,000 Days really is remarkable—what sort of negotiating did you have to do with the label to allow it? We had to look at the record company and show them, "See, this is what we make when we tour. This is what we make on album sales. We don't need to make albums. You want us to make an album, dinosaur? How's that tar pit doing for you?" If they want to survive into the next millennium, they have to figure out a way, but we get to have fun with our album artwork, because they understand that it's something they have to do to be relevant in this new world order. |

OK, more detailed account. I got down to the arena around 7:00, waited for a friend until 7:15 Mastodon came on at 7:30, a guy got thrown out during their second song and for the rest of the set everyone was scared of moving for fear of being kicked out. Still, great set, very heavy on songs from Blood Mountain, and closed with a great version of Hearts Alive. I then stood in the same spot for half an hour waiting for Tool to take the stage. Then, a purple light filled the arena, and Tool launched into Stinkfist They were incredible. They played Wings For Marie/10000 days, 46+2, Schism, almost all the songs I wanted them to play bar The Pot (omitted in favour of swamp song) and a fewsongs off Lateralus. Unfortunately the set was marred by a few sound problems, with the vocals completely inaudible at the end of Vicarious. |

Sounds like a decent setlist. Did they play the title track from Lateralus? |

I went and saw em on Friday, amazing gig. Pretty much the same setlist I think but they played The Pot instead of swamp song. Only disaappointment is they never played Sober and I would have preferred Eulogy to Rosetta Stoned. And yes emporer, they played Lateralus. |

And yes emporer, they played Lateralus. Thanks. Yeah, Eulogy would have been a huge upgrade on Rosetta Stoned-as I'm totally undecided on whether I like that track at all. |

I liked Rosetta Stoned but Third Eye is at least 5x better. |

Rosetta Stoned is far better live than on record, but Eulogy would have been even better. Oh well, maybe next time eh? |

I actually prefer RS on record, live he uses a weird radio megaphone thingy and it comes out a bit garbled. The whole of 10'000 days / Wings for Marie was pretty fucking awesome though. Had goosepimples the whole way through. |

Nice interview, I really understand what their point is about heavy music and the audience it's instantly marketed to. Howover, I do think that their choice of label is the main reason, I don't think stuff like that has happened to the Acid Mothers Temple... |
