Post subject: New Music Download: Kylesa (Sludgecore)
PostPosted: Tue Sep 19, 2006 12:50 am
Is Sludgecore a genre? Well, Kylesa are like an eerie sludge/hardcore band. They have a male and female singer, the latter often sounding like the haunted Dawn Crosby (RIP) of Fear Of God. I first heard them on their last album To Walk A Middle Course and thought they kicked ass! Their earlier albums are a mixed bag, a bit messy, noisy and sort of lacking identity, but there are still some cool songs. This new album, however, seems like it's going to be really good. They also now have two drummers, for some weird, unknown reason.

WHERE THE HORIZON UNFOLDS
BOTTOM LINE
SHATTER THE CLOCK
NO REMORSE (not a Metallica cover)
DESCEND WITHIN
WHERE THE HORIZON UNFOLDS (Video)
110º HEAT INDEX (Video)

I would say so, but not if you didn't like the songs above.

I did, and i do like the album now that ive bought it :)

And for the genre, i'd call it sludgey hardcore with true doom and death metal influences.

The more I look at ol' Turkyboy, the more I'm scared by our lack of physical resemblance.

If sludge was doom it wouldn't be called sludge. Crowbar is not doom.

"Workout music for people that want to get fat"

I never saw that Beavis and Butthead but someone quoted me that line and I always remember it when talking about Crowbar.

An amazing moment in Television history. Man, it's been far too long since I've seen that show.

Hahaha. It sucks that the DVDs don't have the music videos on them.
