The Coral are a band that confuses me. I have no idea why I like them, but they just blew me away from the second I heard them. I first heard them while I was living in the UK, from the kitchen I heard the song "Skeleton Key" playing from the living room, the video was on the Kerrang! channel. Initially I got excited because I thought it was a new song by The Dead Milkmen, who broke up years ago. The song has such a Milkmen vibe to it, just without the blatant comedy aspect.
Anyway, since then I've become a downright fanboy. They're a young British band, they formed in their teens and they play a long lost style of rock music not seen since the 50's and 60's—though they do have some more odd moments, like the song "Skeleton Key." I know a lot of Beatles fans that love The Coral. Clearly not for everyone, but out of this new era of bands playing an older style of rock music, I think The Coral stand out from the herd.
