I know they were mentioned in that thread about the reformation of VBE, did anyone check them out after that?

I did, and I think it's fantastic. It's a shame that it seems so completely unknown even to fans of VBE.

In case you haven't but wanted to hear something:

You know, this whole thing is something I can't really get into. I don't really like VBE, I don't really like this either.

Anyway, interesting enough to listen to though.

I can see how it isn't for everybody. I suppose it just strikes some weird chord with my odd self.

But I know there are a fair amount of big VBE fans so I was interested to see how this went over with them as well.

While we're at it, how about you recommend me something really great you got into somewhat recently? That is after all, why I'm here.

Well, these bands are totally irrelevant to the topic at hand but your question was unspecific so I thought that would be ok. (Plus, I haven't discovered any nice new stuff that would fit into this particular thread)

Consummatum Est: Excessive Funeral Doom, but I find that's a genre where it's good to be over the top. Awesome 19th Century chord progressions played slowly and miserably.

http://www.myspace.com/consummatumest

Lethal- Found this link when rereading the Metal Archives demo download thread. The live performance sounds amateurish but with a lot of energy. It's fast and heavy Swedish thrash.

http://algol.ath.cx/~erik/lethal/ (scroll down)

World Below- Nice modern sounding Doom band with a clear production and keyboards, but manage to make what could be a very wussy sound into a good one.

http://www.worldbelow.tk/ (go to "Media press")

Like I said, irrelevant, but I thought I'd take the opportunity to mention bands I probably mentioned before but nobody paid much attention to.

Yeah, it's hard to see how they're influenced by many of those bands. Seems to be some namedropping going on...

Written in Waters is one of the best BM albums ever in my mind rivaling Fleurty and other shit like that. Is this similar to what Manes is doing now?

I agree, actually I would put Fleurety pretty far behind VBE.

As for Manes, I couldn't tell you, never heard of them.

From weird BM like Fleurety and VBE to electronica, trip dark lounge stuff. Just.........different on their vilosphere (sp?) album. You should check it out you like that stuff?

Very similiar to what Beyond Dawn did Fyrsh if that rings a bell. Beyond Dawn is way underrated weirdo BM gone trippy.

I checked out Manes because you mentioned them, Vilosophe is awesome. Very cool, thanks.

I suppose I should also check out the older stuff then?

And to answer your earlier question, Virus is very different from what Manes did on Vilosphe or View.
