Post subject:  Helmet - Monochrome
Any Helmet fans here? I love this band! I think Betty and Aftertaste are highly underrated albums in their catalog. I liked Size Matters (definitely underrated, as well), but the melody and singing on the album could easily turn people off so I won't argue it. I did like it, though, I thought the songs were very good even though they weren't as heavy and angry as older songs.

Anyway, Monochrome is about to be released. I've heard it, obviously, and I love it. It's definitely more like Betty and Aftertaste; it's heavy, but not as heavy as the early stuff. There is still some melodic singing, but very little compared to Size Matters. Great album for me.

Meh, Meantime was awesome, and Betty was pretty good also, but I really haven't liked any of their stuff since. But I'll probably give the new one a curiosity listen.

Meh. Kind of average. Meantime was awesome, everything else is non-essential. Wasn't Frank Bello playing with them for a time?

Eh, they're boring like all the non-Betty/Strap It On/Meantime Helmet material.

So far I think they suck. Seems to me like Helmet were once forward thinking, but haven't really moved on and this is somethng we could here other people doing much better.

Just first impressions anyway.
