What do the rest of you children think? I've started to get more into this as of late, but the second half (after You Suffer) appeals to me more because the vocals aren't quite as dodgy. Anyone else think the drumming has waaaay too much cymbal work? It's quite annoying. I'd give it a low 80, it would be higher in a review for historical value or someshit. |

I like Scum. There's not much that sounds quite like it, because as soon as other people started being influenced by it the first thing they'd do would be to clean it up technically. So it has a rustic charm that's hard to surpass. |

I like all of Napalm Death's early work. Great album, a true classic. |

I prefer Naked City. It has a lot in common with Scum, but it's just better. |

Naked City is avant-garde jazz. Scum.... isn't ![]() Well, it does sound like grind almost, just with a sax. Lots of less than 20 seconds lasting songs too! Don't say they're not related, look at the pic in my sig ![]() |

NC is full of jazz and wierd movie references and is way more eclectic. (postmodern, if you will ![]() |

Scum was a 65. Music changing, but still it's really only for the ND faithful. It won't change your life nearly 20 years after the fact, and it's really not that great. From enslavement... was better (than Scum), but Harmony Corruption is my favorite full length from their earlier days. First time they sounded "deathy," and I liked it. Inside torn apart, Enemy of the Music Business, and Order of the Leech are all really solid albums too. Words from the Exit Would also has a special place in my heart. But, in terms of the early days, I'd take Repulsion's Horrified before Scum, and Harmony corruption before them all. ![]() |

I think they are both really chaotic but Scum is just so fucking powerful.. You have to witness some of the songs live to feel the power.. |

Below the title track and You Suffer my favourite song is Born on Your Knees, very cool. The damnations festival (indoor) I'm seeing in October has no headliners confirmed yet, there's tumours of Napalm Death. Quote: JAGERMEISETER STAGE
HEADLINER TBA Stamping Ground Biomechanical Send More Paramedics Murder One Head On Kingsize Blues Evile TERRORIZER STAGE HEADLINER TBA Ephel Duath The Axis Of Peradition Madman Is Absolute Man Must Die Thats the lineup, but The Berzerker have dropped out, which is a big thing for me. Now there's amybe three bands I want to see-the headliners and replacement for The Berzerker best had be of the damned highest caliber or I'm just not going. |
