When I say this, I don't mean the hardcore with screamo vox either. Not the shit that permeates the airwaves today. What I'm looking for is straight up slam hardcore sounding similar to Devourment or Dying Fetus, but not actually being Death Metal. Also, it doesn't necessarily have to be from New York.

I'm not sure what you're looking for. Hardcore by definition has screamo vocals. Do you mean the whiny metalcorEMO shit? I've never heard the term "slam hardcore" before, and using death metal bands as reference points but saying you don't want them to be death metal makes it all rather confusing.

I'll assume you mean traditional, old school hardcore. How about:

MADBALL - FOR MY ENEMIES
MADBALL - HEAVEN & HELL (Video)

EARTH CRISIS - FIRESTORM (Crappy live video - one of the best hardcore songs ever written)
EARTH CRISIS - NEMESIS (Video - from their last album, a little different for them)

STRIFE - THROUGH AND THROUGH (Crappy live video - badass band)

SNAPCASE - CABOOSE (Video - awesome band, long, long before the Dilinger Escape Plans and Between The Buried and Mes)

Now, I probably just posted links to shit you didn't want. So, explain yourself better. Hahaha.

Stampin' Ground ware quite a decent UKHC band with some metal influence. http://www.stampin-ground.com/mp3.html

Personally I don't really go in for this kind of thing, but I believe a lot of people who do would recommend Agnostic Front and the Cro-Mags. Personally I love Minor Threat, but there's no similarity there with Death Metal whatsoever.

Minor Threat were great indeed... but that's DC scene, different scene... less macho/street credibility, more intellectual/pre-emokids... and there's also Bad Brains, I had to mention them for Rastacore rules ! (I agains I's my fav') 8)

That request doesn't make any sense. How about just getting more brutal death metal? Eh... whatev, the only hardcore band I know who are really brutal without crossing over to death are First Blood. The 5 song ep is a real smack in the face... FOR HARD CORE, that is. It's boring to me, but was fun for a lil' while.

Then again, you prolly know them already.

What Snapcase album are your referring to? End Transmission or Bright Flashes?

25 Ta Life are good, a little too white boy gangsta for my liking. Not bad, though. Vision Of Disorder are sick!

Agreed. Stampin Ground are fucking excellent! I'd also recommend Pro-Pain, very brutal metal hardcore.

DON'T NEED A REASON TO HATE (clip) is a sick tune!

End Transmission I think since Bright Flashes was not a real album but more a collection of rare works etc...

NP
Hawkwind "Canterbury Fayre"

OK, I just wanted to make sure you knew Bright Flashes was like a b-side/covers album. I really like End Transmission, though. Killer band either way, VERY different for the hardcore genre.

What the fuck are these guys doing?

I find it really funny. Especially that one dude marching around looking very proud of himself. They seriously look clinically retarded.

What I meant was stuff more along the lines of old Sworn Enemy. I'll look up Agnostic Front's catalog and Snapcase. I've heard Pro-Pain already and Cro-Mags. But yes, no whiny, "jesus christ is my savior shite." The reason I'm looking for music along these lines is because of the MASSIVE amount of Devourment\Fetus DM-slam clones out there. I love slam riffage, but I can only take so much of the same vox style that accompanies it.

I'd definately check out Agnostic Front, and I'll also second the recommendation for old Earth Crisis. Try Agoraphobic Nosebleed and Converge - they're intense, but they may be more screamy than what you're looking for. Also check out Undying . Blood For Blood are cool if you can get a hold of one of their CDs.

If you want hardcore recommendations, ask Jaden who will swear up and down that he hates Hardcore, but still be able to recommend a bunch of good Hardcore bands.

Dude, seriously, you should check out No Innocent Victim. They're Christian, but good goddamn do they kick unholy ass! The first song I heard by them was called "Strength (In Christ)" and I was like, "Thank you, Jesus! This kicks ASS!!" Seriously, though, they're fucking killer. Who cares what they're saying?

100 Demons is another killer band, I have a suspicion they're Christian, too, but I don't know, this album kind of throws me off (I don't own it yet):
