Post subject: Sunn O))) + Earth

Sunn O))) + Earth are coming to Paris two weeks from now... they kinda bore me with their studio recordings (Sunn O)))) but most of the times (for me anyway) music takes a higher lever when played live (I close my eyes and let all the sound flow through my ears)... so, here's my question :

has anyone seen them and should I go ?

NP
Helloween "Time of the Oath"

I planned to go to the Liverpool show, but I have an exam the day after. From what I've heard you should definantly go, really cool stage shite.

haha, that's an interesting combination. Sunn O))) = stomach ache, Earth = headache. and you could probably write their setlist on a stamp

drone's a pretty personal thing though, I'm not sure I'd want to see it played live.

Go!

I never listen to Merzbow on record, but when I saw him live it was such a memorable, surreal experience. There were metalheads, arty farty types, free jazzers, people who listened to nothing but electronic drone: They all just came together and had a big party dancing to Merzbow.

My point is, strange music can become so much wierder and more wonderful in a live setting.

Earth 2's their important album, just a straight 75 minutes of incredibly dry drone. I usually tackle one track at a time..

I say go for it. Everyone who's seen Sunn0))) live goes away raving like maniacs at how intensely great they were in my experience. I'm still kicking myself for missing their show with Nachtmysticum in December...

Earth are cool too.

Imo, Earth is so much better than Sunn 0))) (mainly because the last one is a clone of the first one). But live both bands are great, and if I were you, I would've already lived in the hall where the concert will take place.
