I found the re-release of this album in Boston for $2. I fucking hated it and sold it on eBay
for a whopping $2.75. It was that bad. The Lamb Of God songs I've heard have been no better.
I just find it extremely hard to find something to latch onto in their music. All the screaming is fine, but where's the hook?
Hook? Why must everything have a hook? Why must everything be catchy and easily digestible with you? *wink*
The hook for me was the awesome heavy riffage with the math-metal structures and time signatures, the insane vein-popping screaming, the inventive song construction, and the crazy-ass drumming that reminded me of Vinne Paul on methamphetamines.
I LOVE that album.
I bolded the answer for you!

The very first band I listened to was Def Leppard, the masters of the hook. That's just what I like. There are plenty of bands out there that don't have these massive hooks that I enjoy very much, but Lamb Of God just did nothing for me. I can appreciate their technical skill, but I just didn't like any of it.
I'm not calling them a bad band at all, I hope you noticed that. I'm just discussing music. Of course, that has nothing to do with the question of this thread, but thread-hijacking is fun!
