Post subject:  GY!BE
I've heard a lot about a band called Godspeed You! Black Emperor, but I really have no idea who they are. Anyy suggestions?

They're a post-rock band, from Canada I think. There's a lot of people in the band, it's more like an orchestra. They play very calm, well-paced music that builds to impressive crescendos. The average length of their songs is around 20 minutes or so but it's not boring as such, although it's definetly headphone music.

Their music is, um, an acquired taste. If I'd gotten into them before I'd gotten into drone and noise I'd probably appreciate them more..

edit: Oh yeah, if you're interested, start with Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven, or whatever it's called. Something like that. It's composed of four long songs spread over a double album, which reminded me of a certain album by Yes, haha.

Since this thread was made about 2 years ago, I've already got all 3 of their major albums. And yes, the band is incredible.
