I just listened to Demanufacture the other day and I must say, that has to be one of the most exciting metal albums I have heard in the last few years. What does everybody else think of them?

I think I listened to all their albums and I do respect them but it just seems it's not music for me... I hate the vocals and the music just bores me :? to each his own I guess

Demanufacture is pretty good. Not something i would listen to everyday though. I'm going to gigantour tonight and Fear Factory will be there. It will be interesting to see how they are live.

I would have gone to see Gigantour if they had some bands that I like instead of Fear Factory and Dillinger's Escape Plan.

Ya but i have no problem sitting through that to get to Nevermore, Dream Theater, and Megadeth. Plus i haven't listened to Symphony X a whole lot but what i have heard from them has been pretty good.

Unfortunately bands like Symphony X and Life of Agony will get to play like 20 minutes. And I doubt Nevermore would get to play more than 40.

Found this on metal-rules.

Apparently they didn't in Fresno. I saw Megadeth in June and they had a much better list:

Blackmail the universe
Hangar 18
The scorpion
Wake up dead
In my darkest hour
She-wolf
Something I'm not
Angry again
Skin o'my teeth
Die dead enough
A tout le monde
Trust
Rattle Head
Back in the day
Symphony of destruction
Kick the chair
Tornado of souls
Sweating bullets
Peace sells
Holy wars
Paranoid

and a couple more that I forgot. They sang over two hours, it was really great.

As far as FF goes I would say:

Soul Of A New Machine- Good but a little rough around the edges, seems like the band, espeacially Bell have not totally found the niche, but still a good album. Vocals not really that good.

Demanufacture- The best FF album by far. This album sounds like an MG-42 spitting hellashis burst of lead, occasionally stopping to change out barrels. When I was an ignorant metal N00b(Still am compared to you guys) force fed by what MTV and Clear Channel fed me this was about as heavy as I knew existed besides brutal Death Metal and I played the shit out of this album sad I know. I recently rebought the album and it still holds its age very well me thinks.

Obsolete- A little more simplified and not as MG-42 as Demanufacture but still pretty good nontheless with some very good tracks. Seemed to be kinda intentionally NU-ish at times.

Digimortal- A big dissapointment for me. I didnt really mind the fact that they did a song with B-Real per se but the song sucked and Bell is better suited to growling than rapping. Only a few good tracks and the rest is filler.

Archetype- A nice return for the band, not as good as Demanufacture but still very agressive and a nice return to form.

BTW that sucks Nevermore is only getting half a set on Gigantor, they deserve much better.

I only have 3 Fear Factory albums, and those are Demanufacture, Obsolete, and Archetype.

Demanufacture: An excellent album with a bit of filler. Not a complete masterpeice, but definately has some of FF's best work, Self Bias Resistor being one of them. 80/100

Obsolete: More Nu-Metalish, which isn't really a good things, and has more filler than Demanufacture, but Ressurection is my favorite FF song ever. 74/100

Archetype: FF's best overall album, as it contains little filler material and has some of the best vocal work you'll ever hear from Burton C. Bell. Slave Labor is amazing. 83/100

Damn, I love Fear Factory songs right up until the point where the vocals come in.. the intros are always menacing and drilling, with that industrial edge.. I wish they'd put more emphasis on the riffs, and maybe Meshuggah them up a little. They're still great fun, though.

I like demanufacture. It's good. But I din't like the rough vocals. Another thing - no solos :( . But I understand there are some bands that don't have solos in their tracks. This backs me out from picking up other FF albums. Just a personal taste though.

They were one of the first bands I got into in metal. 'Demanufacture' is good, agreed with lizard about the intros, but the songs themselves aren't bad. Deliberately avoided all other albums, although I did get the remaster of SOANM with Fear Is The Mindkiller, and both of those are pretty good, yes they're still finding their formula but there's more variation in the songs. Will probably pick up Archetype at some point, anyone got the new one yet?

I'm also seeing Gigantour in two weeks. This is cool - I get to see Fear Factory live just weeks after I get into them.
