Yay or Nay? Personally I think they are excellent. For those unfamiliar they are a metal band that incorporated some jazz elements on their second album, but were more industrial black on their first. If you don't know them, check them out now!! |

Nay for me at first I liked their sound but after a few listens it clearly showed poor songs... but I'll check their next release since this fusion could be good if serving better compositions... |

I think you are correct that some of their tunes and melodies are not of too high quality, but I feel that overall they are original enough to make this forgivable. The first tracks on both their albums are near perfect, so in their third I would like to see 11 tracks all of this standard. Then it would be my album of the year. |

Not really into them, as Stefan said songs not high enough quality, and being origional isn't enough of a pull when there are another 10000000000 bands I could be getting into! |

I love their Phormula album, some excellent melodic black metal akin to Emperor or Arcturus' first full-length. Great melodies by way of both guitar and vocals, and some sparing but usually effective keyboards. Painter's Palette was a little too much to take, I'm a huge fan of experimental and avantgarde stuff but only when it's in the hands of someone who can pull it off with taste and at least a hint of restraint. Painter's Palette seemed to be trying entirely too hard to be strange and they never really got around to turning it into a cohesive or enjoyable record. |

I think Painters Palette is inconsistent, in the same way that I think many, many "avant-garde" bands are. There are moments were it sounds confused and a bit pointless, and moments- ie "the passage" where it all comes together and sounds perfect, IMO. |

This is a fair assessment. |

Just picked up "Painter's Palette" and it's quite good.. if this was instrumental it'd be even better, as the vocals are clearly weak and unnecessary. If they weren't there it'd give the trumpet player the chance to go all Zorn too, what a shame. :? |

Yeah, I'm with Jaden. I wouldn't be disappointed if I never listened to them again, but I wouldn't complain if I did. |

Heard a track from their new album (restarted my ailing relationship with Terrorizer) and my opinion hasn't changed, seems more corey, and there are much better core bands (Gay For Johnny Depp! Homocore ist krieg!!!) |
