I had never heard them before but a couple of my buddies talked them up to me and I was thoroughly impressed by their show.

I really like the sound these guys are going for, but for me the riffing just isn't good/memorable enough. I listened to the s/t a few times and I think there was one part that made me go like "badass". I do think they could put out a really album on their next one, though. Or they could continue to be mediocre.

yeah I just listened to the album and I would score it 80-85. Not top-tier good but for a first album it's great and their are some really cool parts. It was a really fun live set and the memorable parts are really good if you ask me.

The riffing might not take a lot of skill, but the songs are damn catchy. They're memorable enough to get stuck in my head for a couple days at a time

Their Debut rocked. I like the mix of Hardcore Punk/Black Metal/ and southern rock. its pretty badass not to mention the singer has a badass growl.

I can't believe their debut didn't get more widespread recognition. They're not as technically impressive as most black metal bands I'll give you that, but their songwriting ability is unsurpassed by most bands going at it nowadays. There's not a bad song on their debut, and I can't wait for their second.

Unsurpassed songwriting ability?? Really? I mean, it's a fun band to listen to, especially live (I imagine), but their songwriting is quite simple to me, like most punk-influenced bands are.

Complex =/= good. I prefer John Darnielle's lyrics to Dylan's, and I think The Ramones are one of the best bands of all time. The shortest possible way to get your point across is often the best.

Their album is just AMAZING.
What a great band!

I hope their following releases won't disappoint me but it won't be easy for Kvelertak to make another album as good as their debut.

That's cause John is a great lyricist. Gonna be seeing him live soon. Dylan is a great lyricist too though, albeit too much fanfare for it when a lot of it admittedly didn't mean anything and people were putting too much stock in it. He wrote a lot of creative lyrics though. I never did like The Ramones.

Anyway, this is an awesome band that I'd love to see live. I listened to their album a lot when it came out. Blodtorst and Offernatt are amazing and definitely memorable riffing to me. They are a very fun band and I downloaded them on a whim and was totally blown away. Pretty cool songs like Nekroskop too where they get heavier into the Black Metal.
