Post subject: Looking for PC Game Soundtrack
PostPosted: Fri May 06, 2005 5:46 pm
Does anybody have the soundtrack for the original Baldur's Gate? I've been looking for it for quite some time, now, and I know Interplay used to have it on their website before they closed down. But does anybody have it in MP3/audio CD format?

It had a lot of ambience, and was quite pleasant to listen to. Plus, it was nice to finally play an RPG with what sounded like an actual orchestra playing the music rather than the midi samples of so many Final Fantasy games.

Well, I just found this soundtrack and burned it on CD. Winter, what was actually wrong with it? It almost sounded like a full-fledged movie score.

nothing wrong, just don't remember anything memorable about it. Here is a soundtrack that is perfect and memorable and fit the game perfectly (composed by JAN PAUL MOORHEAD): http://www.queststudios.com/quest/bak.html

actually here is a better version from the CD: http://www.queststudios.com/quest/bakcd/bakcd.html

That does sound like a good soundtrack. Thing is, my computer's using "Microsoft MIDI" playback, so the instrument samples aren't very good. If I had Yamaha XG like my old computer did, the soundtrack would probably sound a lot better on my comp.

By the way, that sounds like a fairly interesting game. What type is it? Can I download it for free?

Betrayal at Krondor is an old RPG and the best game I ever played, you can definitely get it free but it is really old so you have to suffer dated graphics, but it has an awesome storyline and interface.
