haha. I haven't heard Shogun but The Crusade and Ascendancy were both enjoyable for me. This band gets WAY too much criticism, even if you think they are a below-average band, and I would think that Shogun is at least worth listening to. Most of the people that say it sucks probably haven't given it a decent listen... |

I've given a listen to a few songs, and they still do nothing for me. Meh meh meh. |

I can appreciate in small doses both Ascendancy and The Crusade, but Shogun leaves me bored. And ad hominem arguments are not applicable. If you probably listened to more than just the poppy ballads that get constant radio play, you wouldn't be so scathing. It must be a cultural thing, almost every metalhead who likes rock as well listens to Nickelback here. |

liking Nickelback invalidates your opinions about all other music, though and Shogun is awesome. if it weren't for some less amazing songs in the second half then it would be a perfect album. srsly better metal albums that have been released this year: Fortress, ____. oh and can't forget about ___ and ____ there are none!! |

Cmon, Trivium arent THAT bad. They're not amazing but they are very talented and give them a few years and they'd be writing better stuff. I think they still dont know what kind of band they want to be as their vocalist keeps changing his style in every album. Id say their new album is pretty OK, 70/100 for me. |

It's interesting that this got roundly ignored by the masses, isn't it? Though conisdering most folks I knew jumped ship after The Crusade... |

I've seen the last few Metal Hammer covers, it was far from ignored. Although I hate their pre-Crusade albums even more as it was just generic metalcore with that boring screaming. |

I actually like Ascendancy and Shogun way more than The Crusade. To me Shogun is their most accomplished album to date. It takes some elements of their previous albums and blends them into a catchy energetic guitar riff festival with their best vocal work to date. People complain about the vocals but come on dudes, I've heard worse from black and gore metal with singers who sound like a frigging pig on the verge of an orgasm... Anyways to each his own. definitely a 8.5 /10 for me. |

They're not 'bad' at all. In fact they are very good. Shogun took the best parts of their last two albums and merged it cohesively. Its an excellent modern metal album. |
