My god. I hate artists with huge discographies... Where do i start with this guy?
I've heard Hot Rats is probably his best one.

- Hot Rats indeed, "easy" Zappa.
- Chunga's Revenge, full of surprises and quite entertaining.
- and finally Roxy & Elsewhere, a great live album.

I checked out Hot Rats and didn't get past the first two songs. It was what was recommended to me. I'll have try it again some time.

Frank Zappa is a very difficult musician to get into, but once you do, there's nothing else like him.

Chunga's Revenge

This was my first from him, a great listen. I'd avoid the very early stuff at first.

Have actually heard very little, really. Weasels Ripped My Flesh is good. One of those artists that I always mean to get into more, but never manage to.

I think Zappa had some great instrumental works (Hot Rats et al). Very complex. The songs with vocals tend to turn me off -- the whole dated, politico-shock-humor shtick is a distraction from the music.
