just got back:

Cyborg Justice - my friend's band who got asked to play an hour before the show started. Imo they could actually be pretty good if they wrote songs longer than a minute. The only band who's singer could be heard clearly :P

Hierophant - pretty good local band. they had one ridiculously cool instrumental song, at least I think it was instrumental... the vocals were way too quiet for most of their set. Also they started their set off with a clip from Network, which is +cool points.

Breaking Point - kinda boring, but their singer was pretty nuts so that was cool... he added to the vocals problem by making the microphone not work.

Ghostlimb - these guys were just ridiculously cool. they were the "melodic" band of the night and kinda sludgy. bought a shirt.

Dangers - intense and the crowd probably got into them the most of all the bands. they had too many built-for-teh-mosh riffs/breakdowns and their singer gave silly speeches before a lot of songs. high points were a Nirvana cover, their guitarist play Holy Wars's riff, and a Botch cover. I wish I could see Botch live. :sad:

Graf Orlock - the most intense band of the night, not as many people got into them as Dangers but those of us that did basically went nuts. Great use of film samples. bought a shirt too :P

Cool that Cyborg Justice got to play. I've been meaning to check 'em out.

Been listening to them a lot lately, i.e., yesterday. Their first two albums, Yesterday and Tomorrow, lacked really strong riffs and was kinda just a band you could mosh to and sorta enjoy if you didn't focus on their tracks. Riffs were non-existent and the rhythm was carried by the drums. It's fun but it's not great. However, Today is fucking awesome. They have riffs, they have solos, they have breakdowns that don't appear so mindless. I'm loving it tbh. The film samples get old quick but it's what they do. Anybody else listen to them?
