The problem with System Of A Down is that their music just doesn't have a lot of depth IMO. You really only need to listen to their individual albums a few times before you know pretty much everything you need to know about them. Their style is certainly original, but they never really deviate from it very much - nor is their music ever very complex or technical (save for the occasional Jazz-influenced drumming). So they're best listened to once every couple months or so rather than every day.

Singing about pizza pies and Tony Danza cutting in line is NOT intelligent.

And both singers are annoying -- that gay-sounding guy especially. Ugh!

Definitely one of the more original acts running around, far more interesting than most metal.

Two different songs, two different lyricists. One song has stupid lyrics, the other does not.

It's not SOADs fault that someone's brain is dysfunctional and can't figure something out.

Used to really like SOAD, now I never listen to them. Still like Steal This Album though, better than anything which ever went on their "proper" albums.

Steal This Album! is my least favourite SOAD album.

Agreed. Seems like they were aiming for clever rhyming instead of an intelligent statement.

This probably won't help their case, but remember the band comes from an alt-metal background, where REAL METHUL is not God and master. 'Odd' lyrics are always interesting.

Still need to steal Steal This Album. The most recent two I think are still quite disappointing. OK songs, but not a patch on the older material.

Odd lyrics are cool (especially Unexpect's), but SOAD's just sound so stupid...

System of a Down is the type of band you really need to be in the mood for to enjoy. They're probably the most serious-but-funny band I can think of. A funny band that seriously addresses serious issues in a funny manner, if you will. But as I said before, SOAD really doesn't play the kind of music that you'd use as a mental soundtrack during real life. And their lyrics are way too pretentious sometimes (just look at at Vicinity Of Obscenity, and you'll know what I mean).

I'd say they're a "Hit" overall. But certainly not flawless. And btw, count me in as another person who hates Daron Malankian's singing (I like him better when he's doing that "crazy biotch" voice in songs like Prison Song and Cigaro).
