You could always stab yourself in the arm, paint 'I agree with Thrasher' on your bedroom wall in blood, and then shoot yourself in the face with a sawed-off shotgun, thereby somewhat obscuring the message but making perfectly obvious your intent and ideas.

Please don't judge all doom because of Sunno. Most doom doesn't sound like it at all.

O RLY? What would you classify it as? it sounds pretty much like drone doom to me..

I think the band themselves classify it simply as "drone".

I can see how one would call it doom, but there's a pretty huge gulf between Sunn 0)))) and some of the other Doom playin' cats.

haha, yeah, you can't exactly compare them to Trouble. but Drone Doom is just one more subgenre of doom by now, plenty of bands opt to play those sort of dirges and frankly most of them just rip off Earth. Boris are my favourite of the lot simply because they don't, haha.

Sunn 0))) is most definitely drone doom. Though it would not be accurate to judge the entire genre only by your opinion of them. Sunn 0))) are not for everyone, that much is certain.

Oh, and to reiterate, the new album, Black One, is fuckin' awesome.

Only special people can listen to Sunn O)). Black One is indeed awesome.

I would call them Drone and only Drone... I mean, compare 'em to Candlemass, My Dying Bride, Electric Wizard or even Thergothon... they're very different and in a genre of their own.

That doesn't mean we have to ride the short bus, does it?

they do compare quite well with Earth, Burning Witch, Bunkur et al.. and Boris, too. they're by no means the first band to drop the drums and approach ambient. doom's wide.

the main problem is that drone's considered a subgenre of doom, so calling something drone instead of drone doom is basically splitting heirs.

I see what you're saying, though; a dedicated Muslimgauze fan would probably like Sunn O))) and detest MDB. but I'd consider a band like Fall of the Grey-Winged One to be more ambient than Sunn O))) who I still rank as doom.

I consider this kind of music closer to Noise than to 'normal' Doom.
