I nearly posted something along those lines, until I realised he must be about 15, and thus not a driver.

i drive my quite old honda dirtbike to school every day, with headphones on, but always on a decent volume so i can still hear when for example a truck is driving behind me, and i don't have road rage as well

This album is a major improvement over Mezmerize. I like it a lot!

The more I listen to this album, the more I love it. I might be inclined to give it a 90.

I'm not saying they're bad but it's not my thing. I have listened to it at least 3 complete times but the songs almost seem to have the same lyrics as the last album just rearranged.

Personally I think Toxicity was their #1, Steal This Album tied with s/t for #2. Feel free to disagree however.

I have to be honest and admit I really don't understand why SOAD is labeled "Nu-Metal." I mean, there's no rapping or hip-hop in their music (which are essentially the bases for nu-metal). There are no pseudo-tough guy lyrics (ie. they're not profanity-ridden the way so much nu-metal is). Their music doesn't have all those nu-metal grooves Slipknot has. I mean, yeah they have downtuned guitars - but so do a lot of "real metal bands" (Nevermore and Slayer for example). SOAD probably resembles Slayer a lot more than they resemble Korn.

It seems like just about any metal band that becomes popular with the mainstream is somehow labeled "nu-metal." And regardless of its social acceptability, Toxicity is one of my favorite albums of 2001. Not just because it's musically great, but because quite frankly, there really aren't any metal albums quite like it.

As for Mesmerize and Hypnotize, I've only heard samples on Amazon so far. Thus, it's too early for me to really judge them. What I actually heard sounded fine though.

Yes, and there is no band that sound like SOAD. They are, even if you like them or not, very original and unique.

Earlier SOAD seems more hardcore than nu-metal to me (think Dead Kennedys). The newer stuff is more folk-rocky.
