The only Sun O))) album i have is White2, took me awhile to appreciate it. Listening to Sun O))) is truly like an experience, especiallly when you play it loud !

Are alot of songs from the Grimm Robe Demos like Hell-O)))-Ween ? Just pure drone riffs all the way ? If yes then i'll get it for sure !

Haven't come across that. But yeah, pure molten drone, and yeah, it works best when you turn the volume as high as you can stand it, or as high as it'll go if you're me. :twisted:

listened to the mp3s on the link rio posted, and whiulst i can appreciate the apocalyptic sound of the music, i have to say that it's just not for me.

When I see people talking about how awesome Sun O))) is, I can only imagine them hoping someone will see or hear what they said and be impressed by that, because there is no other reason to ever listen to such utterly worthless crap.

I don't really enjoy listening to them that much. I just find there are certain, very rare, times when I'm in a particularly odd mood. At these times I often like to listen to things that occupy the outer realms of musical extremity. Extremity for the sake of extremity, if you will.

Awwww... You should have made a general Drone discussion thread. We need to talk about bands like Earth and Bunkur, and I've been curious about this Mare I've been hearing about. Anyhow, drone is interesting, and the more music I play, the more I begin to think I'm destined to write drone/industrial. Sad, eh? I think so, considering I write thrash riffs solely to improve my hand speed. :(

SunnO))) are a weird band indeed, and i think their music is hard to pigeonhole. Other bands I've heard that are apparently the same or similar ''genre'' are Pelican, Isis, etc. Listen to the album Variations On A Theme by a band called Om. Now that's repetition for you!

It's not hard to pigeonhole. It's fucking Drone. Droning, pointless, ambient background noise.

They sound nothing like Isis or Pelican...

Which are actually good.

And are , actually, music.

I hadn't heard anything by them until Black One. I can sort of see how someone could get into this, just like any other sort of ambient band, but I just couldn't. Maybe if I come back to it in the right mood, I'll appreciate it, but as it is I'd much rather listen to something...that's music.
