Listen harder. There are Metal riffs in, lessee, yes, most songs on Angel Dust, apart from anything. Have you heard The Real Thing? Metal riffs aplenty.

Wouldn't the best way to describe Faith No More be alternative metal? I mean, they're certainly a big influence to what was to become Nu Metal, yet, they have an individuality and a versatility no other band possesses.

Anyway, nu metal is baaaaaaad, FNM is gooooood! End of discussion. Close the threat Zadok!

Yes, there are some Metal riffs (Maybe I overexaggerated with "don't hear any Metal"), and I've heard a bit of The Real Thing ("Surprise! You're Dead" is one of those notable exceptions, but I haven't heard the whole thing, so I'm not gonna comment on it yet), but with Angel Dust, I hear about as much Funk as I hear Metal. I wouldn't call them either Funk or Metal, though. It's always difficult pinning FNM down under one umbrella, but I'd be quicker to call them Alt. Rock than Metal.

And, yes, Coal Chamber is pretty much rock bottom as far as music goes.

nice to get that confirmed. I almost bought an album of their cause it was like 0.01 cent or something in a store here.

PS: Nu-Metal sucks

FNM is Alternative Metal-Rock (with funk influences). or Inclassificable.

And The Real Thing is pure metal, the most metal album in his discography (and my fav).

And my fav song, live:

Pure metal ?
I find more metal in Angel Dust though it's less obvious...

The first Coal Chamber is decent, the second one rules, and the third is pretty shitty.

Seeing that Satan's Anus has posted anew usually leads to either lols or facepalms. I did both when reading that.

This should make for an interesting debate.

Korn is often credited as the band that pioneered nu-metal with their self-titled album in 1994. But considering the fact that their self-titled album was really more of a punk/hardcore-influenced hip hop record than a metal record, would you necessarily agree with this? [...]

Is NuMetal not a punk/hardcore/metal hip hop crossover style? Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Korn, Papa Roach...all the same shit.

On the other side...Faith No More were playing indeed that style a long time before. Whereas the grunge has IMO a really big influence in NuMetal. It's like mixing FNM with Grunge and you get the worst sound ever called metal... :P

you seriously don't know what you mean when you say "hardcore punk influence" do you dude? Please proceed to the nearest meat grinder and hurl yourself into it. If Korn had the slightest hint of Crog Mag like speed or Merauder like intensity then you could say they were hardcore influenced but no. All we have are "TWISTED TRANSISTOR" and those abhorrently down tuned guitars. They sound more like bees buzzing then any kind of music
