I don't like their early material but everything from "Help" (1965) to "Let It Be" (1970, though the 'naked' version of it was a lot better) was awesome !

so what is it gonna be for you metalheads ? HIT or MISS ?

An obvious hit. They were one of my top bands in high school. I can still listen to "Strawberry fields" and enjoy it. Definitely a hit.

I have Magical Mystery Tour.

It's pretty goddamn good. Based on that and nothing else, Hit.

based on that, you should get Sgt. Pepper, the White Album & Abbey Road which are even better than the Magical Mistery Tour (it has kick ass songs but it's different sessions and it shows too much imo, I like the real albums better)

ho yeah, The Beatles were damn good. Greatest pop band ever ! :D

I voted Miss because personally they've never done anything for me, but I, of course, know that I'm retarded in that thinking.

Hit.
I admit that I did not grow up with the Beatles at all. However I've heard some of their "Greatest Hits" (thanks to my friend's father) and liked what I heard in terms of originality and catchiness. I respect music that was the best of their time.

I have most of their albums, but I don't listen to them anymore.

Were a hit, but like having too much sweets, eventually you get sick of it.

Yeah, some good songs, definitely better than the pop-music of today but I've never liked them that much.

Please Please Me-85/100
With the Beatles-80/100
A Hard Day's Night-85/100
Beatles for Sale-85/100
Help-90/100
Rubber Soul-90/100
Revolver-90/100
Sgt.Pepper-90/100
White Album-95/100
Abbey Road-90/100
Let it be-85/100

White Album is maybe the best album ever;it has some songs that are already hard rock songs:Birthday,Everybody's got Something to hide etc...,Yer Blues, and of course Helter Skelter, which sounded like Motorhead ,ten years before!

As for the people who don't like the Beatles,i bet they've never listened to any album!!!!

As far as I recall I've listened to most everything they ever released. There are some good songs, but overall they never blew my whistle. Admittedly it's been years since I gave them a try, they may be better now, but I'm not too confident my opinion would change.

I'm honestly not sure...they're pretty good but I always preferred the Rolling Stones. Lennon and McCartney both did pretty good solo stuff, and I like George Harrison, so overall....HIT.

at first I didn't like the Beatles much either... but they stroke me a few years ago just 'cause they were able to experiment when other band weren't and 'cause they have the most memorable songs in the history of Pop Music... try the White Album, it sums up about everything I love about The Beatles ! :D

I already have much of Abbey Road, that's the one with Maxwell's Silver Hammer on it, right? Good stuff.

I'll pick up the other ones later.

indeed, Abbey Road is, and will always be, my fav' Bealtes album... it's their last album (though it was released before Let It Be) and the B'Side is the brainchild of both Paul McCartney & George Martin... Lennon was too busy with Yoko Ono's underpants to care much about it... :?

my advice : don't try anything before 1965...

I'll vote HIT. I personally don't care for them, but I don't care for Pop music. I think Lennon wrote great lyrics, but the music isn't that great and is highly overrated. But, they were way ahead of their time, and are one of the most influential bands ever, so an obvious HIT. And, I'm sorry, but all of their solo work is some of the worst shit ever made. McCartney and Harrison just made standard, boring "Adult" Rock, Lennon and Yoko is just horrid, and Ringo, well he wasn't an original member so I'll let that one slide.
