I don't care what SSMT says (or "used to say" since I can no longer find the review for this album on their webpage): I freaking love this record. Crop Circle, the title track, and See You In Hell are probably my three favorite songs on the album. But I also really like Temple Of Your Dreams, 19 Witches, and Third Eye Landslide. The other MM album I own is Dopes To Infinity, which a pretty good record. But Powertrip is better IMO. Perhaps MR should review this someday.

There is no miss in Monster Magnet's catalog. I don't enjoy the first three—Monster Magnet, Tab, Spine of God—as much as I do the later albums, but they're all at least good. They really began to hit their stride with Superjudge, and have been nearly perfect since.

What other bands do they sound like?

They're pretty unique, to be honest. You'll find some comparisons with other "stoner" bands, maybe even The Doors, but you're better suited just giving them a listen.

MONOLITHIC BABY!
NEGASONIC TEENAGE WARHEAD
SEE YOU IN HELL *
UNBROKEN (HOTEL BABY)

* That's the kind of song where The Doors similarities come in.

Brilliant band.

They're sort of in their own league. But, in terms of their style, I'd say they play semi-bluesy biker rock with an obvious stoner vibe (especially on their first few albums).

Here are a few more great MM songs:

Crop Circle

Powertrip

Dead Christmas - My favorite song off Dopes To Infinity

I'd like to talk to the man that considers it a miss so he can be slapped in the face. Awesome CD, and they put on a great live show... I saw them about a year after that album came out.

I honestly haven't listened to the band in awhile, but I remember not ever understanding what the hell the singer was going on about in the lyrics.

Time to go dig up the CD.
