I may well check this out. I'm quite surprised Rudess would guest on it, as he's not known for doing guest spots.

Their drummer played on his new solo album, so that probably has something to do with it.

Rudess is on it? w00t! I hope he doesn't do some out-of-place ragtime bullshit. Again.

It was cool on Dance Of Eternity, yeah. But the other two times (?) were unnecessary and annoying.

Endless Sacrifice.

Well, it might not have been a rag time solo, but it sure sounded close to being one.

Oh? I love it. It has more balls than Systematic Chaos does, but that's irrelevant to this topic...

Give Endless Sacrifice a listen again. The rag time thing is somewhere at the beginning of that uber-long instrumental section.

The thing in Endless Sacrifice isn't ragtime, really...just regular piano. It's awesome in Dance of Eternity but admittedly "meh" in Dark Eternal Night.

Well, whatever it is in Endless Sacrifice, it's annoying too.

Kinda disappointing album so far... their EPs had like ownage jamming and groove while this one just sounds too planned out/technical and not energetic enough

it might be because I heard it and the new Blotted Science in the same week and Blotted Science's album is fucking amazing.

Not sure. I just downloaded the thing (you can never be too sure with albums nowadays).
